One thing that I’ve learnt from the Percy Jackson books that makes me feel like I’m slowly crumbling into dust
I’m not even going to add humour to this.
You only have one shot at choosing how you spend it.
If you choose wisely, people will remember you.
Live it to your best ability, and try to make the most of it, or you’ll regret it later.
Take Jason, and compare him to Octavian, for instance.
What was different about those two?
Well, for starters, Octavian was remembered for bad things. He stuffed up his life decisions, and people barely remembered him. Jason, on the other hand, chose to spend his life wisely.
Now you may say that he didn’t have a choice, because he had to leave his home at age TWO to go to some camp. And some of y’all criticize the whole “No personality” thing. You criticize Uncle Rick’s writing for giving him no personality. I’ve reread the Heroes of Olympus series multiple times, and when you dig deeper, he does have a personality in there.
I can’t do a thesis or anything, because I don’t have the books on hand. But there are some examples that Jason does have “feelings” about his past. I don’t mean to take the life out of this fandom like some people do, because whenever I see things criticizing how everyone else wants to think, I feel like this fandom is becoming more and more toxic. This is just my opinion, however. If you disagree, you can tell me what you think.
(Not gonna say Rick didn’t make mistakes, because there were some major flaws in his writing)
Getting back to the topic, I once saw some fanart with a question underneath it.
What separates the hero from the villian?
Personally, they couldn’t have summed it up better.
