Comfort Women Issue, Why?
It is no wonder that opinions could be divided into what the fact is based on some events or records of history. But if we want to step forward from this moment, we must read the intention why those people have tried to insist on different opinions of a fact. We are just deceived by what seems to be true if we couldn’t penetrate it. Forever.
Personally, Shusenjo was like reading a book which deals with research methodology and Kim Bok-dong makes me feel like reading one’s life history.
<Shusenjo: The Main Battleground of Comfort Women Issue, 2018>
I watched Shusenjo without heavy burden due to speedy development, an explanation with key-word(which makes the audience feel easier to understand the topic), appropriate dynamics of music and not boring editing. It was the movie which shows refutation between people who believe their statement is true. I felt someone just hit my back of the head at the ending scene where the director said to the audience.
< My name is KIM Bok-dong, 2019>
Kim Bok-dong is the movie that depicts the issue of the Korean comfort women between Korea and Japan and fights for getting an apology from Japan. It was really sad to watch Kim’s willingness which was getting to be much stronger as she was getting weaker as time went by. Now I realize the gap of the number of comfort women survivors from past to today. It means that Korea doesn’t have enough time to solve this issue.
I would like to recommend these movies to my friends or people who read this article as I felt and thought deeply through these films. I am not saying or pushing that all Korean have to watch these. If you want to find out the reason why this vicious circle keeps repeating, just buy the movie tickets.
