Leaving TTU

Hey everyone,

when I started out at TTU last January, it was my first RP group on tumblr, and my first RPing experience on tumblr in general. Actually, I only joined tumblr a year before that. And while it was fun while it lasted, I couldn’t help but notice that I don’t feel comfortable around here (at tumblr, not in this community in particular, even though the culture of the platform understandably also bleeds into the communities it hosts, as it should be.).  It’s sad that it has to be like that, but the good I experienced on this platform didn’t outweigh the bad feelings it gave me any longer.

So for my own peace of mind, I’m retreating for now, which means sadly that I’m also leaving TTU. Please know that every single person I met was interesting, nice to me, pleasant to chat with, and I enjoyed the actual RPing a lot. I enjoyed rping with every single one of you - I hope as much could be felt in the RPs we had! 

This doesn’t have to be goodbye, though. I’ll still be on discord. I’ll even RP with you if you want to - just write me on discord (I’ll check back on the messages on this account so that everyone who isn’t on discord yet has the chance to get in touch in case they wanna keep contact).

What I’m thankful for is the chance to take a shot at writing prose in English, which is not my native language, and improving a lot on that (it’s remarkable how many times per reply I had to look up vocabulary last year when I started out compared to now!), as well as playing a character I wouldn’t ever think of playing if not for this group and really, really falling in love with it (talking about Kuro).

Best, of course, was meeting all you guys. I made very good friends here, and none of them live in my country. I’m always grateful for opportunities like that. It’s the best thing about the internet and makes up for all the sucky stuff online that’s been really wearing me down lately.

Even though I’ll be relieved to leave, I’ll also miss you guys, I’ll miss Kuro and Rintarou and Hana at TTU, I’ll miss rping here. In Germany we have a proverb I think really fits: 

I’m leaving with “one eye laughing and one eye crying”.

“No problem”, Kurogane said with a smirk, following Ange with his gaze who was getting ready to try out her new colouring book. “I’ll be on my way now”, he said. “If you want to talk, just call me or something.”

Then he turned to Ange one last time. “Since we cut the training short today, I expect you to train twice as hard for next week.” But he was still smiling.

She smiled, “Yeah! I will!I’ll be able to defend my friends when you see me next!”

Battler gave a nod. He would. He would many more times he was sure. Every time it felt like his life was about to fall apart again he knew he could count on his friends to help him put it together.

“Thanks. See you later Kurogane.”

Kurogane raised his hand for a last goodbye and nodded before he left his friends’ flat. He was sure that Ange’s and Battler’s bond was one that wouldn’t break. As well as the bond Kurogane had to both of them; to all his friends he made at TTU.

Those were bonds that would never break.

That last comment managed to get Battler to laugh a little. Him? Kick ass? Far from it as far as he was concerned. Honestly to him he was damned mess, a mess that somehow got lucky to be in a somewhat normal life. He could’ve just as easily went a different way or ended up dead.

“Onii-chan? Why are you laughing?” she asked

“Ah, nothing. You wanna colour that book together?”

She nodded with a smile, walking back up to her brother feeling more at ease now. There was still a long road ahead, but at least she didn’t have to face it alone.

“Oi, Kurogane, thanks.” he said, “Thanks for bringing her home.”

And for helping him put the family back together again, but he didn’t say that. He knew Kurogane would just brush it off.

“No problem”, Kurogane said with a smirk, following Ange with his gaze who was getting ready to try out her new colouring book. “I’ll be on my way now”, he said. “If you want to talk, just call me or something.”

Once again, Kurogane thought how unfair it was that Battler had to deal with all of this... And how remarkable Battler was for dealing with it how he did. Battler had gone through something that Kurogane considered a lot more horrible than what he went through himself, and still, unlike him, Battler hanged in there, and was still able to live what amounted to be a quite normal and happy life, factoring in the circumstances. It was nothing short of inspiring.

Kurogane shook his head when Ange hugged him and thanked him. “Well done”, he said. He knew Ange could do it. He raised his face and returned Battler’s smile with his own small one and then nodded. “You got a really kick-ass brother”, he said, more to Battler than to her.

According to my old partner in crime, luleiya, the TRC manga will be continued this August. This fandom is very close to my heart, so it’s very exciting!

She gave a small nod, “O….ok.”

She took the bokken out of his hand and clutched it close to her. The entire way back she stuck herself close to his side. The last thing she wanted was to be out in the open when she felt like this. The closer they got to home, the more nervous she became. Once they were inside the home, she stopped for a moment at the stairs, wondering if this was such a good idea after all, and gave a look to Kurogane.

She already knew it was a little too late to turn back now.

Ange didn’t need any more convincing to go up the stairs to their apartment, and Kurogane was proud about how brave she was.

When they entered the flat, Kurogane was a bit shocked to see how bad Battler looked. To be honest, he looked even worse than Ange seemed when they trained. This fight was taking a horrible toll on his friend, and he was now even more relieved that Ange wanted to make up with him. Both of them still had each other and obviously cared a lot for each other, or else they wouldn’t feel this bad about fighting; fighting was a waste.

“Yeah”, Kurogane said when Battler asked him if something was up, and then Ange looked at him and he gave her an encouraging nod.

It played out like Kurogane had seen between Battler and Ange once before; they made up in no time, and they both seemed so relieved about it that Kurogane felt a lump in his throat just from watching. He also felt a bit uncomfortable watching this intimate moment unfold, and thought it might be better if he left them to each other now, but he had promised Ange he’d stay come what may (even though he was sure she wouldn’t mind him going now, but Kurogane was a man of his word), so that was out of the question.

So Kurogane leaned against a wall, silently watching them with a smile.

She barely registered the squeeze at first. He wasn’t until he knelt down and talked to her she seemed to register it. He was right, she was lost. She felt lost, and somewhat alone. Even though Kurogane was close to her, what she needed, what she really wanted, couldn’t come from him. It could only come from her brother.

What she needed was her brother to be there, at her side, to tell her everything was ok. No one else could really do that.

“I think once you see him, you’ll know what to do”, Kurogane tried to reassure her when she said she didn’t know how to make up with Battler. He smiled a little when he realized that she immediately sensed that making up with her brother and probably giving him a big old hug was what would make everything much better. That was the big difference between how Ange dealt with all of this and how Kurogane dealt with it back then. “You’ll be fine”, he said from the bottom of his heart.

Then she asked him if he could come with her. If that was the last boost she needed to muster up the courage to make the first step to making up with her brother, Kurogane more than happily obliged. 

“I’ll be there”, he promised and nodded. “Come”, he said, handing her the bokken he had carried for her and they made their way to Ange’s home and her brother.
