Wow, I'm so sorry I dropped off so hard everyone! Life's been crazy, but I'm back now! I don't play TWST nearly as much as before, but I do play other games, which I'll be posting about in the future!

And, another new thing in my life is that I started a ko-fi! Tips are 1000000000% optional, but I'm trying to save up for some things to help in my everyday life and content creation. I'm super grateful that anyone even takes the time to look at my blog! Love you guys and catch you later, toodles!

Wow, that poll was a unanimous "yes" from y'all! Knowing how confusing TWST can be, especially for new players, it makes me happy to know my amassed knowledge of game mechanics can be of use here.

Since there's too much to cover with a simple poll, please tell me any mechanics that confuse you or that you'd like a bit more clarification on and I'll answer based on request frequency! Please put your requests in the tags or replies to this post and I'll do my best to make the explanations as to the point and easy to understand as possible!

If there's enough of a positive response, I'd be happy to take suggestions for what to cover from y'all in the tags/post comments!

Ignihyde Chapter Advice

I’ve noticed there are a lot of ENG players struggling, so I’m going to provide a small tidbit of advice. In the Ignihyde Chapter, it’s more vital than ever to pay attention to Spell Elements. A lot of chapters will require you to pay attention to the Elements the enemies will have when setting up your team and the order of the appearance of the Elements in combat on the left-hand side of the screen. This go around, these are NOT suggestions. You either get the upper hand/break even with same element vs same element or you WILL lose. 

And Auto Battle will NOT be your friend in the Ignihyde Chapter. You WILL have to use your brain and take note of elemental attack patterns to come out on top. And for endurance battles, ALWAYS go for a team of High HP cards because going for taking them out via HP is hardly viable unless you have some VERY good cards. As someone who has played both the JP and ENG versions of this chapter set release now, I want to help make this as easy for players to get through as possible. Please note it may take you several tries to pick up the pattern, but you WILL get it.  (And please make sure you have one of EACH of the different characters up to at LEAST Lv 40 and with both spell slots at at least Lv 5 or you will SUFFER with the later gimmicks with the near-end of story boss battles! The card soft locking will give you trouble if you neglect the spell slots ESPECIALLY! Thankfully the characters you need to worry about are only the ones actively involved in the plot line, like the OB Squad and the Rescue Committee.) Good luck and may you get through Idia’s nonsense quickly!

Here is a small update with visuals, for those who may struggle to understand what I meant about the Elements earlier! I know that sometimes players skip the tutorial and some things might not be explained well by the tutorials. So allow me to give a bit of visual assistance. I’ve placed the visuals below a cut to avoid spoilers, however minimal, from the screenshots used from my game. This is intended to help those struggling, so I hope I did a good job without seeming like I think y’all are incapable, I just know some people work better with visuals to guide them (me, I’m one of those people and this is mostly for people like me who are visual learners over reading walls of text by themselves). Good luck, everyone!

The top left corner of this first image shows the spell elements triangle. Nature beats Water, Water beats fire, Fire beats Nature, and then there are elements (Void, Cosmic) that don’t positively or negatively interact with any of the main elements. For anyone familiar with Pokemon, this won’t be new information. With this menu up top, any elements highlighted will be used by your opponents. In this case, all elements seem to be highlighted.

And here we have the battle setup. Here on the left, you can see the appearance order of the elements. One will always be obscured, but if you pay attention to the order, you can generally at least neutralize elemental damage by using, for example, water against water. This is a screenshot from the “An Expected Turn” chapter, which I know was a particular struggle for a few individuals. You can also see the elemental advantages/disadvantages chart below it if you ever find yourself forgetting what element has an advantage against another.

Back to the team selection screen. Where applicable, you will see this. I previously mentioned that Endurance Battles should be fought with High HP concentration over High Power concentration, but if you’re uncertain what your best HP cards are, then use Auto Team. I always recommend the Unspecified if your enemy elements chart during team setup isn’t one element specifically, because it will default to a team that has as much advantage as possible or at least as much on the neutral Cosmic/Void magic spectrum as you have available without putting you at a complete disadvantage elementally. Where I have High Power selected, choose High HP instead whenever an Endurance Battle appears. I promise the HP will make a difference.

And I will reiterate that elemental advantages will be a key part of snatching victory in any battle in Chapter 6 because Ignihyde is a ridiculously cracked chapter and it will throw as much bullshit at you as possible. We’ll cover the worst of it when the update with the pre-overblot pseudo bosses drops, because that is a whole different work horse and the gimmick for that will absolutely take the piss out of everyone who thought the leadup to the other overblots was easy street.

My mind has been on this for a bit, and it’s probably well worn territory by this point, but this is bugging the sanity out of me. WHY did Disney change the names of the UMs of the cast in the English release? Like, the original voice lines are still there. You can still hear the original names of the UMs whenever they’re called out. If you were going to change it, why not spring for an English cast so you could completely change it and not have the jarring discord between the UM name change and the voicelines calling the original names? You’re literally a huge, multi-billion dollar corporation funding this. You could have easily sprung to get an English voice cast for the localization. Why intentionally half-ass such a major aspect of the game, given that UMs are a focal point of all the Overblot conflicts? Riddle and his “Off With Your Head”, Leona and “King’s Roar”, etc. 

UMs are a keystone of major game events, and yet you half-assed it so badly and so obviously? You clearly don’t want the IP to fail when you’ve made efforts to make it available to multiple sections of your consumer base and even have merchandise rolling out pretty regularly. As well as its ties to popular keystone media pieces from Disney history that would make a TWST IP failure a bit more annoying. (They literally had their MOST iconic character appear in the mirror later in the story and TALK WITH THE MC!!!!!!!!!)  It makes zero sense whatsoever! I sincerely hope something about this will change - if not rolling back the UM name changes, then employing an English cast to re-record lines with those changes. I’m not getting my hopes too high though, given how long it’s been since the English version released, but I can damn well dream.

In conclusion: The UM localization names make no goddamn sense with the original voicelines still in the game, and I’m making my disgruntlement with that fact everyone else’s problem despite the topic probably being beaten to death already.

I returned to FEH in time for the Fomortiis/Gotoh double banner and can I just say...dear artist who drew Fomortiis, you deserve a raise. My unhinged simp thoughts below:

So I am a lover of all things Lyon. Normal Lyon, Possessed!Lyon, Fomortiis himself...I love it all. And they did the Demon King JUSTICE with this art. He looks intimidating and impressive, and they gave him a massive stature as one would expect of the Demon King himself! The art is polished, and so fucking massive that to see the entirety of his character art you’d need to visit the FEH twitter just to see it! The Lv 40 confession feels like the most evil marriage proposal I have ever fucking heard, and I love it. But that might just be my monsterfucker ass interpreting it entirely differently to how it’s supposed to be presented. And that is FINE by me lol. I’m a big simp for both Lyon and Fomortiis, and I make NO secret of that. So all of this just feels like a very early birthday present from FEH as a whole because oh my GOD did they hit every one of the notes I like with Morti! And I love the added detail of the sprite of Lyon’s body slumping forward before righting itself almost unnaturally - a staple of any cheesy possession scene in movies and tv shows! It’s such a neat detail for anyone actually LOOKING.

I've been OBSESSED with Pokémon Scarlet, and I've been dashing around on Koraidon and Tokyo Drifting all over the landscape and I just feel SO bad for the NPCs out and about in the wilds. Because they're just minding their own business and randomly get hard clipped by a weird looking lizard and the trainer on its back at high speed - and the trainer just speeds off like they didn't see anything.

Also, I am OBSESSED AF with the new parrot bird, Squawkabilly, and have pairs of every color. I wish the party had eight slots instead of six so I could carry them all with me. But maybe it's a good thing we don't have ANY more slots than we do or the sky above me in a radius would be blotted out with these birds, their cries irritating everyone in hearing range. Pls, I love them so much that my goal is to get pairs of them in every color in their shiny variant too.

Seriously. I'm literally incapable of playing anything else right now. Send help lmao

Pokemon ScaVi is SO close to release and I've seen a fair number of the new Pokemon. I've already got my team planned out, and like the true Ghost Type lover I've been since I was tiny, I'm putting my ace Pokemon Gengar on my team. I'm SO fucking excited oh my god. Though Tentacool/Tentacruel scare me now lmfaoooooo Those things will be haunting my dreams for years to come. That's just so fucking CURSED. (...I'm gonna catch several just for the meme factor tho.) Although the baby revealed with Iono during the release lead-up videos looks cute, I might pick one of those up. But they wouldn't be on my main team, I already have Plans. I can't wait to show off my team here when the game is finally out! And one of my babies gets a REGIONAL VARIANT FINALLY, I am SOBBING with joy. However, one of my go-to mains didn't make the cut into the game and I'm infuriated. But this will push me to try new combos so I guess it's not all bad. Don't wanna get stale for the sake of battling my friends! And I'm super excited for the picnic function too! SO MANY THOUGHTS, SO LITTLE TIME!

Anyway, I'm Team Sprigatito, even though one of the design elements of the final evolution disappoints me.
