No one is talking about how BRILLIANT Erika is this season. Obviously Ava is hilarious and full of depth but Erika's spin on the traditional "low-INT barbarian" is fucking incredible. Every word they speak is a testament to this, and it's somehow completely subtle. They've magnified fragments of everybody's varying relationships to their own mothers and grandmothers in a masterclass study of the archetype.
Not to mention how Ava's relationship to knowledge/change/learning is directly mirrored and amplified in Tula's "negative relationship to curiosity writ large". I don't know how much of this parallel was discussed in advance but from a viewing standpoint they feed into each other; narratively it's obvious the Tula is performing the same behaviors as her mother but her motivations are deeply informed by her own experiences.
