I think one of the funniest abortion stances I've heard was from my parents neighbor. He's a like, hard-core libertarian viking larper guy who is very tall and very fat and very bald.

He believes a fetus is human with a soul, but also its "basically attacking the woman's body" so if she wants to get rid of it, that's "basically self-defense". He compared it to shooting a home invader. So he supports abortion not as healthcare, but as killing a baby in self-defense

Y'know I'm so glad someone reminded me of this. Because this was also discussed.

My stepmother did NOT like the way her Libertarian Viking Neighbor framed pregnancy as the fetus "attacking the woman". She incredulously told him this was extremely disrespectful to expectant mothers to portray pregnancy as so violent and negative.

Libertarian Viking Neighbor's response was that people consensually hurt each other all the time, and "there's like a whole community about that, with the acronym the one that starts with a B" And his reasoning was that if the mother was consenting to bring attacked by the baby, it in fact wasn't violent and negative because there was consent.

He brought up people consensually hurting each other, didn't go for one of the obvious answers like boxing or body mods or something, no he went STRAIGHT TO BDSM and he DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE ACRONYM

This is reminding me of my Grandma's boyfriend. Up until this, he was on his best behavior. Was Christmas day and I was visiting my parents about 20 mins away, I had gotten a new TV for Christmas.

When I was in the mudroom getting ready to leave to go back home, I lamented on the fact that it was near impossible to get a TV with HDR, eArc, etc. that wasn't stupid expensive.

He told me I should blame "the Jews"

I just, looked at him.

He didn't seem like he cared. Would have called him out if it weren't for the fact I was tired but. Jesus.

Stop calling the crumbs shit. None of you realize how hard it is to photoshop crumbs falling mid-air via a birds-eye perspective. They don't just have 'mid-air granola crumbs' on google, no one has ever thought of photographing that before. I had to color a bunch of boulders brown. I had to find images of various boulders and color them brown, whnich yeah, when I say it out loud, does make it sound like a funny euphemism for shit, but it's really more of a light brown color and it took a lot of time and effort, so stop.

There are also Android-based alternatives like GrapheneOS and LineageOS, which are pretty easy to install. These are unfortunately available for a more limited range of devices (Graphene is ironically Pixel only, while Lineage supports more), but it's very worth checking out whether one of them might work for your phone.

Typing this from Graphene now, in fact. But, both of those take the Android Open Source Project, without all the bloatware--and largely de-Google the whole thing. They give you much more control over privacy and what the apps you choose to install can do and access on your phone.

I know Graphene sandboxes everything, including the optionally installed Google Play Services which a lot of apps unfortunately require to run. (Lineage uses an alternative to Play Services instead.) So, you can install what would normally be unacceptably intrusive apps and just lock them away from pulling any funny shit with your data, or phoning home. Including the couple of Google things I do still keep around.

I also prefer running much more transparent, privacy-respecting open source apps where possible. Besides the transparency, I'd rather avoid the shitty tech corps entirely where I can. There are pretty good alternatives available for a lot of the usual suspects.

Be VERY careful when it comes to using ADB, you can easily fuck up your device with it. Research EVERY package you are removing and make sure that it isn't going cause some feature you actually use to stop working.

Also some apps refuse to work if they detect a rooted device or one running a different ROM, there are ways around it but it can be complex and difficult, main offenders are banking apps

I FINISHED THAT VIDEO OF RISK OF RAIN

It was truly so so so good. I felt such agony for both brothers. They never understood how they hurt each other or how serious the other one was about something. When the misunderstanding started I was so sure the one brother was about to betray the other but it still hurt because he ends up doing so many more cruel things than he brother ever did to his own creatures and his brother. Like they are both doomed by the one failing they have / the thing they can't see but it still feels so painful and unfair in a way. The overlapping of different types of monsters and people and times places, I was invested for the whole video my god.

It's a greek tragedy, and one of the most subtle stories in any game I've ever played, as well as the best in a non story focused game. And a lot of people just, miss it. Part of why I love the game, it's hella fun, and story is 100% optional without loosing any of the experience.

As for story focused games, I still think Stray has the best story ever. That's one I HIGHLY advise not watching any lore or game play videos on until after you play it yourself.
