I think it's fair to say the Institute probably makes the Gen-2 synths to withstand a certain amount of damage, so that it takes a bit of work to take one down. They're disposable, but they've still got a job to do and that's harder if a single shot to the torso can penetrate and risk hitting something vital like a coolant line or something. Especially when everybody and their neighbor is packing.

So, with that said, a concept: Nick's body only has one or two bullet holes, from higher caliber guns that have the power to penetrate the outer shell of his body. But he is absolutely riddled with dents. Pitted all over the entire expanse of his torso. Textured from all the shots that didn't have the firepower to actually break through. He's prone to just taking shots if someone's got a shoddy pipe rifle or a little handgun, because he knows it won't ACTUALLY do anything and it's wasted effort and time to dodge.

Fallout 4 has a serial killer character named Pickman who only kills raiders and makes art out of them and tbh I don’t get why it’s supposed to be some sort of moral dilemma when deciding to spare his life. I am also basically a raider based serial killer. The only difference between me and him is that I don’t make art with the body parts.

Obviously irl I don’t think that killing anyone is a good thing but in the context of this video game, stopping him would just make you a hypocrite.
