Sidenote, I've been parking in populated areas while I draw or do other stuff and watching people talk. I am not social in-game, so I only recently just learned via chat osmosis that the prevailing reputation of male Viera is that they're all fuckboys who are only interested in erp and who only care about Viera lore in so far as it concerns sex. Apparently there is a fan-made google doc for 'Viera lore' and it's mostly just sex.
Like most stereotypes it can't be 100% true, right? That's gotta be overblown. But maybe that's why I don't get approached very often in-game, and why 99% of it used to be Short Women emote-flirting at me [side-sidenote, don't dote/pet me, I don't like it] and throwing little tantrums when I moved out of the way.
I'm not gonna go looking up that google doc because my Viera lore is 100% home-grown and I will probably just get mad reading it because I am very stubborn about my world-building. It does suck being an asexual Viera-lover though- of course the biological mechanics have a part to play in the way their species operates, like of course they do Viera are gender-essentialist as fuck, but I'm coming at that from a more anthropologist angle. Bunnyologist.

You know, I used to think I would do the 'canon' AymeriClover stuff as a gpose comic, but I've since accepted that I'm mediocre at gposing at best.

Rose, Veena, 59 at time of DT
Rose hails from a small lake-side village in the valleys of Skatay, but as the male of his generation, was sent into the wilds at 15. He had gone through his childhood under the assumption he would stay with his mother, learn her trade, and be a celebrated seamstress, so he was ill-suited to the ways of the Wood Warder, and eventually abandoned by his forest father.
Rose escaped the forest, severing his connection to the Wood, and wandered the southern desert, surviving off his trade skills, floating from job to job, and barely staying out of poverty. The growing threat of the Garleans pushed Rose further south until he was able to scrape together enough to pay for a one-way trip to Thavnair.
Alvaro, Rava, 177 at time of DT
A Wood Warder through and through, or so it would have seemed. Alvaro lived the life expected of a male Viera, a proficient warrior with the single-minded devotion to protect his homeland. He earned his right to mate, siring a daughter he would never know, and took on three boys to raise. Alvaro loved them dearly, and cared for his boys as any good father would, until they blossomed into strong Warders in their own right. They took their independence and left one by one, and Alvaro spent years adjusting to the loneliness again.
Until one day, he found the body of his youngest in the brush. No signs of battle, only the bruises of a fall. He had fallen. He had fallen. Alvaro tore himself apart, wracked with the guilt of not being there to catch him, to stop him from falling in the first place. And why had the Wood not caught him? Why was the Wood complacent in his son's death? Was he not worth protecting?
Alvaro left, his faith shattered and his heart broken. He worked as a hired blade for many decades, until he grew tired of the spear in his hand, and took up the quill as an accountant for a run down brothel in the deserts of Dalmasca.
Asher, Rava, 86 at time of DT
The city of Rabanastre was all Asher ever knew, growing up in a poorer district with his mother. She made her gil as a sex worker, and Asher filled his own coffers as a cobbler for her and her co-workers, becoming quite adept at shoecraft. Though, with no formal training, and no master to bolster his name, he couldn't call himself a true artisan, and his pockets remained annoyingly light. The gold of being an entertainer glittered all the more brightly in his eyes.
Asher found himself a delightful little niche working at a male-oriented brothel, but remained close with his mother and his aunties, still repairing their snapped heels and broken straps. His pockets were full, and all was good for a time. For a time.
They fled from the city, he, his mother, and some of his aunties, moving southward and away from the threat of the Garlean invasion. The women found refuge in a reputable brothel in a smaller, safer town in the south, but they did not accept men. Truly separated from his mother for the first time, Asher continued looking for somewhere new he could settle in, just until they whole Garlean thing was over and he could go back home, and found himself in a run down brothel in the deserts of Dalmasca.
All was not good.

Another Viera, a male no less, wasn't a common sight, so the new accountant caught Asher's eye immediately. He caught the accountant's eye as well, and [REDACTED].

The two fled into the desert and disposed of the body. The jackals made swift work to leave no trace.
A brotherhood forged in blood, Alvaro and Asher took the stolen coffers and fled to Thavnair.
Jay, Rava, 48 at time of DT
Jay's mother and aunt left their jungle while she was still pregnant, and he was born not too long after they settled in Radz-at-Han. His aunt had wrangled herself a merchant husband, so he was raised in the comforts of wealth- and expectation. Still used to the ways of the Green Word, once he came of age, Jay's mother sent him to learn under his uncle so that he might become a wealthy and successful merchant as well. He did not take to his studies, his mind wandering, his courses torture, and his uncle increasingly exasperated with him. After decades, his uncle simply gave him a building- an empty shop with an apartment above it- and told him to Do Something With It. Jay wallowed in the apartment, living off his allowance, pursuing his myriad of interests, feeling like a failure to his family, until two Viera walked into the shop [you forgot to lock the door!!] and made him a proposal.
Eridani, some hidden third Hingashi Viera, don't ask his age
Born into a family of actors, Eridani was a star from the moment he could remember his lines. He grew up alongside his many sisters, his mother, and uncommonly for a Viera, his father, all working in theatre, and enjoying their popularity as well. Eridani knew he was a boy, even when his sisters teased, even when his mother gave him that gentle, pitied smile, even when the doctor tried to tell him otherwise. His family eventually came around and supported him.
While he enjoyed the stage, he soon grew to despise the attention of one fan- a Kugane noble insisting Eridani quit the theatre and become his personal entertainer. Disgusting. Not even the kami themselves had permission to touch Eridani, but the nobleman would not take no for an answer. His harassment continued until Eridani's family could stand it no longer, and smuggled their son away to Radz-at-Han, to take a prolonged hiatus until the nobleman died of old age.
In a strange new land, Eridani needed somewhere to go, somewhere he'd be safe, and nowhere sounded safer than the shop run exclusively by male Viera.
