And WTF when have Cloti's ever harassed SE developers to do any of the shit that Ken Masshole is claiming we do? Sounds like Ken is actually talking about himself or Maggot or Jairus or any of their other cronies, especially after the infamous post-NPTK breakdown last April. When will these stupid fucks just leave this fandom?? I'm so sick and tired of their toxicity!

It's about some dipshit on the English localisation team called Matt Furd who admitted he fucked up the localisation on purpose. He hates Zack and wants Cloud to die and a load of other shit. He's also responsible for changing "first love" to "boys" on the junon ferry. He should be sacked.

What's the point of being Cloti? Because the way Cloti talks about characters, it's weird that they're not Zifa. So devaluing Cloud and Aeris for the sake of two dark-haired Mary Sues. Why ship Tifa with Cloud or Zack with Aeris? You can ship Tifa and Zack.

There is no point, this isn't about "the point", it's about being accurate. We're "Cloti" because that happens to be the story that the developers told. Whether we like it is irrelevant. Zack is my favorite person in FFVII, and I prefer Tifa over Aerith, sure. But why should that mean I should ship Zack with Tifa when that's not what either of them want, nor what the story has been building towards. There is only one thing I truly ship in FFVII, as in, there is only one pairing that I desperately want, and that's for "the game" and "a good story". I want the game to have the best possible story, that's it. And that so happens to be Cloti and Zerith, because that's how it was written. Anyway, seriously dude? You come here and call Tifa a Mary-sue while calling Aerith Aeris? Those are a bunch of red flags that someone isn't here on good faith. If you call her Aeris when it's been established time and time again that her name is Aerith you already show that you care less about what's true and more about that thing that you decided was true long ago to not be taken from you. And if you call Tifa a Mary-Sue while being an Aerith fan then you're just not operating under any sense of intellectual honesty. I am not here to flame Aerith, but if we're playing this game I'd like to point out that Aerith has caught the biggest case of "fan-fiction writing" I've ever seen. Fan-fiction writing is what happened to Tyrion Lannister in the later seasons of game of thrones. Where the character is no longer themselves but a caricature of themselves. The popularity of a character has influenced the writers and as a result they're no longer a complex, flawed, 3-dimensional character, but a collection of tropes and quirks that the audience now associates with them. Aerith was already a magical "last of her race" innocent savior of the planet. Then remake made her an artistic genius as age 5, as well as an all-knowing gandalf type mysterious quest giver around whom fate itself revolves. Then Rebirth actually had her write a last minute song that then somehow immediately won a competition despite the show being in 10 minutes, then the organizers went "do you want to sing it", which she of course did, and she excelled. And, of course, "everyone clapped". This is the worst self-insert fan-fiction sounding writing I've ever seen in a multi-million dollar media franchise, it's honestly an insult to the intelligence of both the audience, and Aeriths character, which was once well-written, but is now a joke.

And then Cleriths want to make the worst written character in Rebirth even worse by having fate itself upend to make her come to life, and have Cloud and Zack both vie for her affection, despite Cloud only knowing her for 2 weeks while being in love with another girl, who in this version of the story becomes a pathetic doormat. No thank you, seeing as how I ship "a good story", I am gonna pass on this. But yeah, calling Tifa a Mary-Sue in the same breath as defending "Clerith" is....well, it's a bold choice, lets see if it pays off.

Sorry for ranting in your asks but I need to get this off my chest!

As someone who isn’t involved in the fandom LTD and has been a massive FF7 superfan since OG back when I was a kid, it’s mind boggling to see how badly CA fans warp and misunderstand the story. I honestly have to wonder if they know any of the plot beats outside of their CA bubble. CTs see the big picture, while CAs isolate moments from the overarching narrative without any contextualization. This, for me, isn’t about shipping. I don’t care who Cloud is endgame with as long as it makes sense to the rest of the story. What I do care about is the absolute butchering of story I love to champion a myopic view of the narrative.

The way they downplay every other character as blurs in the background to Cloud & Aerith is frustrating as well. CAs only bring up other characters in context to those two without at all championing their original stories. Do they just mash the buttons through every scene featuring anyone but Cloud or Aerith? It’s mind boggling to witness, especially as someone who cherishes each individual character arc and understands that everything is integral to the narrative. It’s not the Cloud&Aerith show, it’s Final Fantasy 7.

They don't play the game, so no button mashing to begin with. They watch edited scenes on YouTube and tiktok and then go on twitter to scream at anyone who tries to explain why they're so fucking dumb.

And I would say the erasure of the party is because the party all go on about Cloud and Tifa's bond. Not to mention aerith ignores bonding with the party aside from some surface level convos about herself. She has no meaningful conversation with anyone, and that includes Cloud.

I honestly don't understand why the devs made this whole premise of how cherished she is when she spent 3 weeks playing around and not getting to know anyone. If it isn't about her then she spends her time trying to steal Cloud from Tifa or high fiving while giggling.

She's a character of zero depth.

The more I think about it, the more I question why they couldn't use Ifalna who is an actual cetra. They party could've had a mother figure along with them who ultimately dies and imo that would've had a more solid lasting impact than "she was pink and sparkly and we feel bad she died."

Vincent has attachment to Lucrecia, the mother of Sephiroth.

Cid was attached to Ifalna thanks to some random paper thin story stitching in Rebirth.

Reeve was estranged from his mother Ruvie, but we know he loved her from the handkerchief he showed Denzel in case of Denzel.

Barret has Marlene, who is motherless because of his actions.

Tifa's mother died young.

Cloud lost his mother in the nibelheim incident.

Yuffie's mother is never mentioned, so the assumption is she died in the wutai war.

Red adored his brave mother who died defending the canyon.

See? The connection to mothers was present in OG because they made Jenova the anti-mother, but never considered using an actual mother character in the opposing role. Instead they stuffed a character who acts like a 12 yr old while claiming she's motherly, but never showing that. Not ever. Not in AC, not in OtWtaS, not in OG or 7R.

You can't just say a character is motherly and not show it. Even lil kids know to act like a mummy when they play mummies and daddies ffs. They should've just used Ifalna and left Aerith in the monster bestiary for ffv where they dragged her out from.

Cloud couldn’t conceive of a sound sweeter to his ears than the sharp, satisfying click of the lock when the doors of Seventh Heaven closed behind the last customer of the night.

It was 11:26 p.m.

There was no way the guy in the faded trucker hat hadn’t known they were closing in a scant two minutes and seventeen seconds when he strolled in, all wide-eyed cluelessness, but Cloud, much to Tifa’s chagrin, informed him of the fact nevertheless. He’d only let the dickhead stay because she wanted him to—she was far too nice to turn anyone away.

So Cloud was nice, too.

And attentive.

He truly went above and beyond, making a point to hang around the bar until the last drink was drained and the last morsel of food swallowed. Just to make sure nothing inappropriate, like smiling or laughing, was going on.

When Cloud woke next to Tifa on Sunday morning, he thought he was dreaming.

She had clothes on this time. But not really. Just the gray tank top she wore under her work vest… and under the covers, he remembered with a jolt, a very ordinary pair of white panties.

The events of the previous night had transpired in a half-awake haze. He faintly recalled helping her up the stairs, sitting her down on the side of the bed, gently removing her shoes, her leather vest, and her shorts while she swayed with fatigue. Then she’d mumbled for him to remove her bra, and the second his clumsy fingers got all the clasps undone and he’d tugged her top back down with eyes squeezed shut, she fell over sideways and slept like a rock.

He had fared a little better, but not by much. He’d barely managed to shrug out of his own garments before collapsing next to her in his underwear.

Of course, he wouldn’t commit that sealed-up, secret wish to the smallest shred of paper—unless he was completely alone and there was a convenient fireplace nearby. And he was a hundred times less likely to speak it out loud.

After all, no one could ever know.

How ironic that now, at the age of twenty-one and a half, when he was supposed to be dead and the world should have ended at least twice, that was precisely where he found himself.

It went without saying that she was naked, too. He had undressed her himself, and though it had been a bit too dark under the covers for his liking, he’d seen pretty much all of her. And now she lay in his arms, skin against skin, and it should have been the most wonderful feeling in the world… except for one small thing.

One huge thing, actually.

It’s a small thing. A glove.

Left on the edge of the bar counter like he’d be right back.

Tifa’s cleaning up—half-distracted, half-waiting—when she sees it. The familiar black leather. A little worn at the knuckles. Folded neatly beside a bottle he forgot to put away.

She reaches for it absently.

And then pauses.

Because it’s still warm.

Not sun-warm. Not room-temperature. Cloud-warm.

Like he’d taken it off a moment ago. Like his hand is still in it, just… invisible.

She presses her thumb to the seam near the wrist. Her fingertips fit into the curve of the fingers automatically. She could almost believe she’s holding his hand. Almost.

But it’s never that easy.

Tifa draws in a breath and lifts the glove to her chest. Not dramatically. Not for anyone to see. Just close enough that the warmth settles against her shirt, against the ache she pretends isn’t there.

She presses it to her chest like it might explain him.

Because he won’t. Not with words.

He won’t say what he’s thinking when he stares too long. Or why he always stands one step too far, then one too close. He won’t explain the way he always looks like he’s about to speak—but never does.

She lets the glove rest against her collarbone for a second longer than she should. Then folds it gently and sets it back down. Exactly where it was.

The door creaks open behind her.

Cloud steps in, hair wind-mussed, sword sheathed across his back.

His eyes find the glove instantly.

“Forgot that,” he says, already walking over.

Tifa nods. Smiles like she didn’t notice. “It’s still warm.”

He stops. Looks at her. Looks at the glove.

Something unreadable flickers across his face.

“…Guess I wasn’t gone long.”

“No,” she says. “You weren’t.”

But part of her still is.

He cleared his throat. “You’re welcome.” It seemed like a safe thing to say.

She had turned back to the sink, but not before he noticed the pretty stain of rose that had spread from one temple to the soft skin at her jawline. He wondered how hot that skin would feel if he came up behind her and put his mouth there.

“So… Marlene asleep?” she asked, shattering his fantasy.
