     “…Yeah, you’re right.” When did his brother get this wise? Leo must not have noticed, but they really were growing up. “I know it’s crazy, I mean… we saw him go. He got blasted into nothing, but…” His mind called back to the night at TCRI, but he snapped back a moment later. “…Just can’t be too careful, I guess.”

     He turned to his brother. “Let’s get back to the lair.”

Raph gave another nod and shrug.

“Yea.....we thought he was gone before but it just seems like he keeps on comin’ back.....like a really bad roach.”

He smile, affectionately punches his brother in the shoulder and starts running in the direction of home. 

“Ey! I’ll race ya! Loser’s gotta listen ta Mikey talk about his comics for 2 hours!”

Raph carefully watches and listens to his Elder brother’s words before approaching him and patting his shoulder. 

“Yea. I get that.....I’ve been thinkin’ about that too.....But ta be honest, Leo....there ain’t nothin’ we can do but be ready for ‘em. He might show up tomorrow, or we might neva’ see em again. We just gotta follow what Mastah Splinta’ says and stick togetha’.”

No. 

Raph was never just ‘okay’. 

Despite staring out at a city completely filled to the brim with people, he’d never felt so alone. 

So empty and outcasted. 

Even with his own family, he didn’t feel that he fit into the dynamic. 

He’d never be the son that his father should want or that his brothers deserved. 

He was just so…..angry. So closed off. 

He hadn’t always been like this…but with every year that passed he steadily got worse. 

Disillusioned with the world and the people that would cast him and his family aside. 

What was the point? 

The world would never accept them. 

Turning away from the view, he lightly bumped his shoulder into his younger brother’s. 

“’m fine.”

🔧 the shake was enough to startle him awake some, not by much as his vision still swam something fierce. blood dripped behind them both from the wound that had left the genius downed and not very useful. he let out a groan as he shifted only slight on his brothers back as they made their way to april’s apartment.  

❝    i’ll try, raph but its getting quite hard to focus. keep talking.    ❞ he murmured, bloodied fingers gripping on tight to his brothers shell.

“Uhh....Ummmm....”

As much gripe as he gave Mikey for not thinking, Raph was barely any better. He went with his gut and emotions first. Not always wise for a ninja, but- it was just the kind of person he was. 

He adjusted the grip on his brother and continued on his path.

“Did I tell ya’ about what Mikey did ta me th’ otha’ day? You were in th’ lab, so I doubt ya’ heard it but- believe me, it was probably one of th’ most annoyin’ things he’s done in a long time.”
