Alva Valai, renowned explorer, stood poised to loot the greatest of the ancient Vaal temples: the Lost Temple of Atzoatl. She'd recruited an exile to help her locate it and with their help, they'd cut a path through the jungle, slaughtering the ancient foes who would stand between them and treasure. However, once inside the temple, everything changed. The exile was beaten and fled, leaving Alva alone with Queen Atziri herself. But... that was impossible! The Queen should've died centuries ago in the Cataclysm. How could she...? Still, here the Queen stood, tall, powerful, and inhumanly beautiful, just as the legends stated. Alva braced herself for a gruesome death, yet another sacrifice to the Queen's majesty, but instead she found her clothing being stripped away. Queen Atziri laughed as she held the explorer in front of her mirror. Alva's reflection laughed along with the Queen. Alva could see the naked hunger in her refelction's eyes, a lust for gold that she normally barely contained within herself. It was then she knew... Why kill, when you can enslave? Alva struggled against the Queen's iron grip, but she couldn't escape. Not from the Queen, nor from the darkness inside herself. Before long, she would be one of Queen Atziri's loyal handmaidens. And she knew, worst of all, that she would love every moment of it~
--------------------------------------------- So this is a drawing I spent a good deal of time on a couple months ago. I'm a big fan of the ARPG Path of Exile (Seriously, check it out if you liked Diablo and Diablo 2) and one of the past leagues was the Incursion League featuring Alva Valai and her search for the temple of Atzoatl. Who knows if we'll see her again in canon, but I made my own take on the brave explorer's fate~
