30 Day Writing Challenge Day 1: Hero

Saruhiko had never been into comic books, they were dull and predictable, so maybe that's why Misaki found himself so immersed in them, he supposes. As he used his chopsticks to bring some of his lunch up to his mouth, he gazed at the older, a bored look on his face.
"Done yet? Or were you planning on wasting your food." The taller drawled, irritated by the lack of attention he was receiving in favor for those drawings. And though he wasn't really one to care for wasted food, he knew how much Yata did, how money was tight. He was brushed off with a wave of Yata's hand, and he narrowed his eyes.
"It's almost at the good part!" Yata insisted, not tearing his eyes away from the book for even a moment. How Saruhiko would like to rip it to shreds, since when had Misaki been so interested in something that didn't involve him? Comic books were childish. And this was their one time in the school day where they could just hang out without any nuisance teachers getting in their way.
Clicking his tongue before he took another bite of meat, Saruhiko glanced at his watch to look at the time. Five minutes left. They'd nearly taken up their whole lunch period as Misaki wasted time and Saruhiko sat around waiting for him, as always.
"What's so good about it anyways? The superhero's gonna save the city or whatever, it's a waste of time."
That seemed to spark Yata's attention.
"Whaddaya mean a 'waste of time'?" He demanded, pouting slightly (No matter how much older he claimed to be he still acted like a child). "It's fun! Nice to know a hero'll always be there to save the day." The comment was received with a scoff, which made Yata narrow his eyes. "What?"
Saruhiko raised an eyebrow, looking at him condescendingly. "There's a reason that was in the fiction section, Misaki. It's not real."
"Of course it's not real, most people I know can't fly." Yata scowled.
"That's not the only reason it's fiction.."
The bell rang before Saruhiko could properly answer, and he clicked his tongue as he gathered his things. "See? You didn't even touch your food, don't go complaining to me later in the day when your stomach starts to growl."
"Ah, it was worth it." The ginger finally closed the comic and shoved all his belongings in his back, standing up with him. As they walked down the steps to their next class, he had a dreamy look on his face.
"I wish a hero would come and save us one day, ya know? Then we could go on tons of adventures. Really take over the world."
Saruhiko couldn't even argue when Yata flashed that grin at him, the one that made his heart pound and his head feel fuzzy in a way that used to make him uncomfortable but he had learned to accept. Instead he merely nodded, accepting what he knew wasn't true for the sake of Misaki.
"We gotta get to class first, idiot." He ruffled the ginger locks fondly and began walking faster than him, causing the smaller to yelp as he yapped at him to slow down.
He couldn't bring himself to burst the other's bubble.
Because he knew that heroes don't exist.
Nobody was coming to save them.
