we can keep talking about it, since for first time we get POV character thinking about his student becoming a 'pretty, capable adult' while also remembering and talking about others. none of it is exclusive?

i get that you like Onestar and think he is trans, gay and woman-coded or whatever (legitimately what i read in someone's post lol you know who you are), but let's maybe not dismiss the issue bc 'there are worse examples' <3

imo, Smoke's resentment would make much more sense if Onewhisker refused to bring her and Darkkit to the clan during a better time, when it's peaceful. like. i doubt she is that dumb to not notice, hear and smell twolegs ruin the territory from top to bottom. or to see Onewhisker's skinnier than usual body. or everyone else's, really.

i really don't like how they wrote her reaction to the clans leaving, as if Onewhisker WANTS to leave the forest. he doesn't. none of them wants to leave their home, but they literally have no choice. of course they could move to the twoleg place, yes, but it's not realistic, i guess.

but anyways. Erins wrote her as.. what, too stupid to notice the severity of the situation? in my opinion, yes.

is she right to resent Onewhisker? absolutely. but it would still make more sense if the situation in the clans was different. it would HIT different.

found it! Nightcloud is first mentioned in Chapter 8 (around when Mudclaw mentions chasing away 'pretty gray kittypet', that part), when Crowpaw is still on the Midnight Mission (as mentioned in the beginning, when Ashfoot is still in deep sorrow of him being gone).

so they actually spawned her before the rebellion, good for them, i guess?

well, he is well overdue his warrior ceremony, but given his ambiguous Nightcloud's age is (were they meant to become warriors together or is she only a bit younger than Whitetail, what is she) it still puts a weird taste in my mouth

Haven't read Onestar'a confession and I'm not gonna. I'll make my own interesting sibling dynamics, what if Darktail considers Heathertail his last real kin and is desperately trying to connect with her bc he feels like the very code and father that rejected his existence has been manipulating her into following the clans xenophobic, war driven lifestyle. So he ruins the clans by turning their own code and its flaws against them, as a sort of "Look at this Heathertail. Look at how terrible your life is. Everything you believe in is flawed. They've raised you this way, but I can save you." trying to convince her to join him in his goal to end the clans.
