Help Me and My Family Survive the Winter In Gaza

I never imagined I would have to ask for help like this, but the situation has become desperate. My family and I are on the edge of losing everything, including a safe place to stay.

With winter approaching, we have no home, no shelter, and no way to afford the rising rent in Gaza. The war has left us homeless and constantly moving from place to place, searching for safety.

Before the war, my life was filled with passion and ambition.

I worked as a digital artist, creating visual art and motion graphics, while my sister was a translator and language teacher. My brother is a programmer.

Together, we were a family full of dreams, striving for success and a better future. But when the war began, we lost everything , our home, our savings, and the opportunities we worked so hard to build.

We don’t have a tent or anywhere secure to go. If I cannot pay the rent soon, my family will be forced to live on the streets. The cold nights are coming, and I fear for our safety, especially with no shelter from the harsh winter.

But when the army invaded Rafah and the border crossing was closed, our plans were shattered, leaving us trapped in the middle of chaos. The closure of the border has also taken away our hope of reuniting with our mother, who remains stranded in Egypt. With the high cost of living, we had to use up our savings just to buy tents and basic supplies, struggling to survive in an unsafe and unstable environment.

My name is Reem, and my sister is Iman. Before the war, we both had dreams of building a stable life.

Iman is a translator and language teacher, and I am an artist.

We were working hard to achieve a peaceful, successful future. But then the war came, and we lost everything. Now, we live in a place that is not fit for living, with the cost of basic needs becoming unbearable.

Since being forced out of our homes, we've faced extreme living costs. Rent prices have soared, with some places demanding as much as $2,000 monthly.

On top of that, basic necessities like food, clothing, and essential supplies are costly.

We had to leave everything behind—our clothes, tools, and food, because of the deadly bombing.

Now, we struggle to afford even the most basic items to survive.

The last few weeks have been the hardest of my life. My family and I have been forced to evacuate 9 times because of bombs falling around us.

Every time we find a place, it doesn’t last. We’re constantly searching for safety, but it feels like there’s nowhere left to go.

During our last evacuation, I got injured while running. I fell hard on the floor and hurt my hand, back, and right leg. Now, one of my fingers isn’t working properly, and I know I need medical attention. But right now, survival comes first.

I’m doing my best to keep moving forward, but it’s becoming more difficult each day.

We desperately need your help.
