Part of Torus had feared a misunderstanding might occur, but whether Perri realized he wasn’t one of the ring’s Pokémon or not, he seemed to realize they were on the same side. Reassured by that fact, he focused on the third of their opponents, a particularly dishevelled-looking Weavile.
This one actually hesitated upon hearing Perri’s words, and she glanced back at her trainer as if contemplating her options.
“What are you waiting for?” came a sneer from outside the ring, a human waving their fist in frustration. “Take ‘em down!”
The Weavile shrank, but saw no other option. Her fatigue slowed her down at first, but she managed to build up enough momentum to charge at Torus, who blocked the swipe of her claws and threw her to the ground.
She rolled over onto her side, dazed and half-conscious, but alive.
Another Lucario joined the fray soon after, making their way towards the third opponent just as they started getting back on their feet. It was a Meowstic, the white details in his blue fur almost invisible thanks to a combination of filth and bad lighting. Still, he shouldn’t have too much of a problem against a Fighting-type – that first hit had been a lucky one.
Green eyes glowed as he sent a wave of psychic energy at his opponent, but they didn’t even flinch.
Instead, they took a step forward until they towered over the smaller Pokémon, and then they vanished… leaving a particularly intimidating Zoroark in their place. She didn’t give them much time to react.
Before he could make a sound, she threw a punch to his torso that, while definitely painful and incapacitating, had a very low chance of being fatal.
The arena was now free of opponents, allowing Sylvia to focus her aggression on the humans who, literally and figuratively, were behind it. Her first target was the one wielding the cattle prod, which she hoped to get out of their hands one way or another.
The onlookers didn’t seem fazed to see the Zoroark turn toward them. Outbursts of aggression toward the crowd were a common sight, and the tall chain-link fence usually kept the tantrums contained. So, when the Krokorok turned toward Sylvia, the crowd cheered.
“I get you’re probably frustrated, kid,” Perri said, though in truth he younger than Sylvia, “but let’s take out the frustration on the assholes instead of the fence, yeah?” He offered a toothy grin, then shifted to bring his own attention to the people behind the fence. He hoped the Zoroark would take him up on his offer, but regardless, he’d wasted too much time just trying to survive already. If she was going help, he’d welcome it. If she was going to fight him, he’d just have to deal with her while taking out the humans.
With a roar, Perri took a few steps toward the fence. The crowd laughed, assuming that both pokemon were getting overwhelmed and letting off steam. However, they changed their tune when Perri slashed a hole through the fence. The people gasped, jumping backwards. “How is that possible?” Someone yelled, as the fence was supposed to withstand the hottest fire attack, or the toughest steel attack. Perri gave a sly grin under his helmet. His armor wasn’t made of any ordinary steel. He charged out of the cage and started swiping indiscriminately. Cloth flew as it was cut, and blood spilled. The room quickly turned to chaos as people ran about trying to get to the exits. Sadly, for them, they would find them locked. Barred from the other side.
It was at that point that a woman called from the rafters of the factory, “Ay, you dobbers, the show’s over! Now, you can surrender to us all peaceful-like, or,” she jumped down from the rafters, auburn pigtails flying in the wind. Gauntlets, like Perri’s, materialized around her fists, “you can have your brains bashed in. Your choice.” She smiled as she said it, all chipper with a thick Stoutish accent.
