Reilin remembered the glamour of the Orlesian noble balls and soirees. Draped in pearls, the finest, softest silks. Beautiful translucent layers covering not much at all. Being able to snack on imported finery and lounge on plush velvet-himself plush as well.

He remembered decadence and feeling ethereal.

Now he was mud soaked. His cracked hands sewing the seams of his shirt tighter, another hole beat into his belt. His ill fit shoes had rubbed his feet raw, even though his socks that were more and more threadbare.

But the south had become so unsafe, he knew he had to get north, just somewhere where he could rest. He knew he should have just stayed in his brothels, kept low, but the dream of court life had tempted him all too sweetly and it didn't take long for templars to find the long missing mage.

So he had run.

Reilin knew all too well forcing oneself to retire early. Illness in early spring had left him in the mercy of a nearby chantry, being taken care of by one of the brothers as he flitted in and out of consciousness for weeks. A time in which he'd surely thought he'd die.

After he had recovered, he'd made his way back to his chateau to tend to it's empty halls, to turn it into something functioning.

And to his delight, he and Lyrian had found each other yet again.

"You know I can't give you anything short of the best." He chuckled as he wiped his hands of extra salve before reaching into his companion's bag. He couldn't help himself as he held the object, carefully fingering over the fine carved surface, "Oh, Lyrian, this is beautiful, thank you." He finally said, genuinely grateful for the object which he sat with reverence on his nightstand.

"Lyrian, listen, I have a question for you." He started.

With eyes momentarily closed, Lyrian appreciated the warmth he felt and the welcome he had received. He's tired, it's clear upon his face, but he's far more settled than he had been days prior - tended to, comfortable, content. Perhaps he really was getting too old for wandering the wilderness by himself with little to no rest at the best of times - - everyone eventually deserved some comfort, right?

"A question?" He opens his eyes, raises his gaze to his companion with no small amount of curiosity; "Fire away-"

Reilin eased himself down into a chair next to Lyrian, taking in the warmth from the fireplace in his bedroom, "Why don't you settle down here with me in the chateau? I've got plenty of space." He offered. The two had been on the hard road together, healing those who needed it but even folks like them needed a soft place to eventually land.

An abandoned direction that I absolutely love. Morrigan just barely beats Solas back to Skyhold, where he reveals his true identity, and burns Skyhold to the ground.
