Nope. Sexism goes both ways and assumptions are bad but I think most girls can unite on the fact that for the most point, boys have a fragile sense of masculinity that will pick a fight over just about anything, they are incredible demeaning towards girls, expect us to do ______, so no. The above is a generalization and humans should try to stay away from those. But boys who act like that are stupid. Every. Single. One.

I see your point, however I think there is solidarity among girls that kind of accepts and understands that in a lot of experiences this is true. But yes the opposite would be attacked, depending on what it says.

So then the fact that sexism towards men is very frequently celebrated with a mass following on here while anything sexist towards females is endlessly attacked shows evidence that (on tumblr, at least) sexism is mostly a one-way street.

I mean, you need only look at some of the responses to invertedgender ’s posts (who literally just takes popular gendered text posts, and flips the genders) to see a ton of evidence. Posts that would have hundreds of thousands of notes of support for something that is oftentimes sexist towards men, are all of a sudden berated.

Just an idea, but maybe it’s because for the most part this is a place women can voice their feelings about men without being put in danger. I suppose it could, ultimately, be because men are generally treated with more respect than women and things like this are a women’s way to try to level the playing field in what she can control over. While a post about women is further degrading her already lowered social status.

Posts like this don’t influence the way people think about men. Posts about women do. Don’t get on women for making posts like this and not getting backlash, to be honest if a woman was to say this in public or publish it somewhere people could find her she could be in physical danger. If a man did this, it would just be another day.

Women can be put in literal danger for speaking out against men and their oppression. For the most part, the only “danger” men will ever face is a snarky comment or letter. So yeah I think that’s qualifies as one sided sexism.

There’s that “all men are antagonists” and “ all women are victims” mentality.

Hypothetical situations that would most likely never happen don’t make blatant sexism okay. It wouldn’t for men in the real world, and it shouldn’t for women on here. But lo and behold you needn’t look far to find it in droves on here.

Honestly, this “we have it worse” mentality is such bullshit (from both male and female sides). If people for a second stopped seeing each other as female/male/black/white/gay/straight/etc, and for once as people, this wouldn’t be happening at all. It’s in human nature to make differences and it’s our duty to fight it, as long as humanity sees themselves as different groups and not as one species we will keep on beeing a fucked up race.
