It probably wouldn’t seem like a big deal to most people, but lately I’ve been separating my thighs more than usual to make space for my stomach in several postures, but especially in downward facing dog. This requires that I separate my feet more than I would typically- it’s a bizarre adjustment for me because as I’ve deepened downdog over the years, I’ve found that my feet have gradually moved closer together, sometimes resting directly next to each other. But now, instead of working on “picture perfect alignment”, I’m getting to a place of comfort with finding “alignment that feels picture perfect in MY body.”

And making this adjustment is BEYOND perfect- my hips are able to shift much higher, my spine gets much longer and the actual inverted element of the posture becomes waaaaaaaayyyyyy more sickening. And I wouldn’t have gotten to this good shit without accepting my stomach as a legit part of my body. Instead of treating it as an unwanted guest. I’ve been throwing so much shade at my stomach- for DECADES a bitch has been soooo shady. But the self-love and practice of compassion has turned a switch inside me. By accepting my stomach, I’m able to make space for it. I’m able to make space for who I really am in spite of who I CAN’T SEEM TO STOP THINKING I SHOULD BE. God damn. Anyway, the rest of these sun sal reps are on IG TV if you’re into that kind of thing.
