Please note that Iām very new when it comes to translating anythingā¦ let alone a big post like this. I wanted to handle this with care and delicacy towards the situation, and as a dog owner myself (Penny is 12), I couldnāt help but almost sweat through my eyes as I read this.
After living as a family together for many years, Zero Suwabe has passed away.
It has been 15 and a half years since we joined as a family.
Although he had a chronic disease and felt that medicine was critical, he still had a healthy appetite, had no problems excreting, and was able to take his daily routine morning and evening walks until the day before.
I thought that morning would come as usual, āLetās go for a walk!ā but he never got up from his beloved bed.
I left that very moment to get him help. His face was calm.
A veterinarian who has been taking care of him for many years diagnosed that it wasnāt from aging, but it was that his chronic illness had been getting worse.
It wouldāve been nice if he could leave without sufferingā¦ I donāt think so, but it was so sudden that I felt honest remorse afterwards.
Even though I talk about it, I understand that reality will not change.
In fact, two years ago, Zeroās physical condition worsened significantly, and I told myself I had to prepare.
In recent times, Iāve often given him more pets and really fawned over him. Petting his chest and ears and gently stroking his forehead with my fingers. When I pet him the way I did when he was a puppy, he looked very happy and satisfied.
Whenever I tried to take a photo, he doesnāt want to look towards the camera and has a tendency to be cold about it.
Perhaps the last two years have been added time, a reward-like time to digestā¦ And Zero understood that the end was approaching closer and closer. Now, it seems like that there is no other way.
We lived together for more than 15 years. Hot days, cold days, rainy days, windy days, and snowy days. Every day without fail, we would always walk as part of our daily routine because he was there. To be honest, there were times when it felt difficult, but there was a missing piece of me which is importantā¦ I feel that there is deeply, deeply a great amount of happiness that will come far beyond this hardship.
Since I have introduced photos and talked about him in various places, there are many people who know about Zero and wished for his health and happiness, so I wanted to report on his departure properly and decided to write this because I had to do it. Thank you very much for all the kind support from your hearts.
And maybe youāre worried about me. Itās alright, please donāt worry. On January 30, a funeral service will be carried out. Of course, the sadness and loneliness wonāt disappear, but I think Zero would get mad and say, āA good old man shouldnāt cry over me forever! Itās odd that I feel like that. I will never lose the precious and loving time we spent together. So itās okay!
However, if you wouldnāt mind, we hope that you can pray so that Zero can reach a place of happiness.
