Things I Wish I'd Known Earlier

How many times will you blame yourself for the wrong people did to you How many nights are you going to spend saying, "I deserved this." as you cry yourself to sleep For how long are you going to be scared to let the right people in just because someone else destroyed you How many times will you make yourself feel unloveable because you blame yourself for people leaving How many times are you going to run your fingers over those old scars that don't even hurt anymore but you do it only because it gives you a false sense of home, hope It makes nostalgia come knocking on your door and makes you relive all those times where you thought, this right here, right now, this person, is all that is ever going to make me feel whole, make me happy But when will you understand that reminiscence of this kind of past is dipped in the toxicity of sadness, lonliness, unworthiness that you felt when what you have became what you had When your "perfect" world turned upside When your safe haven became the hell you wanted to get out of When will you understand that other people are not going to make you happy Other people are not going to pull you out of your sadness Other people are not going to decide your worth And they sure as hell won't guarantee their stay Or whether or not they are going to break your heart You just have to wait and see Learn and gain Give and take Love and let yourself be loved Without counting days, without fear, without regrets Love the ones that love you with all your heart, love till they love you back and sometimes even after that But don't let that stop you from loving someone new Maybe if you're lucky enough, you will find your forever; a lover, a friend, a pet, a thing, it doesn't matter But learn to let in and learn to let go too And most importantly, love yourself too Feel whole within yourself because at the end of time, that's all you've got -SKS @reincarnatingthesoul

Sadness Feels Like Home Somedays

Some days I just want to wallow in my sadness. To dip my feet in the ice cold water of numbness. To feel the winds of gloomy erratic thoughts on my face. To look into the darkness of my soul as it stares right back at me. Empty yet heavy. A void that is filled and emptied with waves of sadness and self loathing. Silence and chaos together. Some days I just want to lie down and feel broken.
