For the last day of Josuyasu week, some more Crying Tendency.
Thank you all for a wonderful week of Josuyasu goodness!
PHEEW! Now, not entirely related to Josuyasu, but to this piece, I want to share a small cautionary tale. I need it off my system.
Few years ago, I owned a computer which had a habit of bluescreening at least once a day. Since I'm a lazy piece of work, instead of trying to fix the problem, I just learned to live with it. That meant, as a silver lining, that I adopted a healthy way of saving my work into copies, often, in case of a sudden bluescreen corrupting my currently opened photoshop document. Believe me, that happened often.
Somewhat recently I built a whole new flashy PC, and much to my delight, it was, and is, very stable. So far, it hasn't suffered a single bluescreen. That, however, lulled me into a false feeling of safety, and I started to make less and less copies of my files...
Yesterday, I was about half-way finished with these 4 pages, as the power went out. The feeling of dread built inside me, as I realized what that meant. I feared the worst as the power finally snapped back on, and I tried opening my precious file to see how it was doing... aaaand it was corrupted. Boom. And I had no backups.
I went through all the stages of grief except acceptance, and tried everything short of blood sacrifice to repair the file, but nothing helped. I went to bed utterly defeated.
I woke up early this morning, filled with a burning defiance towards the gods of fate, and started working from scratch. I'm finally done. I can have my xmas vacation in peace. My soul is at rest.
Don't be an idiot like me. Make backups.
