Todays Pony is an...new Fursona!
Realised i vibe with a horsie fursona more than with my old one, at least right now. so yay welcome Horsie-ness!
Will be thinking of more details later.. Design still tentative or rather very open/loose. And shes a Mule hehe! I also think i might have a second Ponysona in there i will draw later :-)
I offer the horse a carrot (nice one) (distracted) (im collecting some dust around the room) and throw some forget me nots, a feather, dust bunnies and carpet fuzzies into the cauldron.
Charles happily accepted your offering and watched as you poured a handful of flowers into the mix, followed by dust and fuzz. The cauldron just as happily consumed it all quickly and turned a nice lavender color shortly before a Seal Brown Roan Spotted Blanket made itself known.

Thoughts, wips + design info (and flowers) below!
General thoughts:
It was quite fun! Like last time, i really enjoyed myself. The other Artists were INCREDIBLE! It was so fun seeing the WIP Channel daily. Go check out their works as well!
Sadly my Apprenticeship was quite stressing me out. I'm finishing/graduating vocational school on Friday- so i will be busy with job hunting but i want to prioritize art again. I missed drawing, for two years i had 0 free time and didn't draw at all otherwise.
All in all, i think this is a good piece! Just..not a good book cover lol. You can see that i never visited art school haha :,D
There's things id redo now, especially the composition and the title placement- book covers are supposed to catch the eye and lead to the title, and i don't think my cover reflects that quite well.
Oh well, it was still a very fun learning experience and now i know what to look out for, for a second attempt!
I also wanted to go more woodcut-style but along the way started rendering the fur and kept going because i had so much fun. It was a joy to work at, normally i don't like rendering or painting lol!
the first WIP i had in mind. Originally i wanted to put them inside a path on the forest with the Houses in the back, to show Tigerstar "leading" Sasha further into Clan life. Realised it wasnt fun drawing and changed it up.

I think its fun to see the difference. I quite like rendering fur to look soft.
Now lets go to Flower Languages: (my favourite part!)
First, the red roses for Tigerstar: very obvious, red roses represent love and devotion. This is how Tigerstar presents himself to Sasha: deeply loving. He wears his love for her as his pride, displayed on his head. I find this statement by Vicky Holmes very interesting:
He isn't playing with her feelings (intentionally)- he does love Sasha. Love however doesn't change your personal flaws. Thus the petals slowly fall out and pool at his Claws- like the blood he sheds.
Rhododendron: "danger, beware, I am dangerous" The scene features Rhododendrons all around, growing around them as well as in Tigerstars fur. I implied that he gave her the flowers on her body, his presence involves her into danger whether he wanted that or not. Yet being common and beautiful flowers everywhere, Sasha is too blind to see this, seeing it as a gift instead. They are also poisonous.
Adonis flower: "Painful recollection, sorrowful remembrances": the Adonis flower represents love, as his Namesake from Greek Mythology, yet stands for a love lost. They are often planted to represented late lovers. Here, the Adonis flower mirrors the red of the Rose- true love- yet love that cannot be and will bring doom. It will not bloom. He will not live. They are also part of the buttercup family..
Buttercups!: Buttercups represent childishness and childhood. Here, they are meant to show naiveté- Sasha doesn't know clan life and doesn't know what she is getting herself into. She is too blinded by her recent loss and newfound love in front of her. They are all over Sashas fur, covering her, including her head. Its also how Tigerstar sees her- a little childish, fun, less needy for responsibility. Different from the other clan cats.
Daisies: Daisies commonly stand for "loyal love, gentleness, innocence". There aren't many of them, but they do represent the innocence of a young Sasha before her life will change drastically with loss. She is ready to love with all her heart.
Wild roses: They are roses as well, representing love, yet they are different from the common commercial ones. They are wild, free and they hide Sasha's collar- her past, her past life, her memories. To precious to throw away, but gladly hidden with fondness and love. But is hiding something you love for someone truly the right path to take?
the black Dahlia: normally, Dahlias represent elegance and devotion. Yet black (or dark purple) Dahlias represent betrayal. The flower is placed lovingly in front of her ear- by Tigerstar. To her, it is a gift of devotion, yet to him it will forshadow his later betrayal and death. As far as i know, real black Dahlias do not exist.
Last but not least: The Columbine. They represent "Folly, deceived lovers, ingratitude and faithlessness". Tigerstar deceives Sasha by hiding who he truly is and what he has planned. Both of them are foolish, for thinking a love that will lead to happiness is possible for them in their situation. Its the flower he actively gives her- held between his claws.
Generally, i wanted to show Tigerstars softer side- i think its quite interesting how he truly loved Sasha. (I have not read his novella yet if it disregards this then. i am not care as i do not know right now. whoops). I also will take any chance drawing Sasha, she is such an underrated character and i adore her so much. She lived through so much traumatic stuff and in the end left with us never knowing if she found happiness or what happened to her- help!!! What happened to my girl!!?
The Human civilization is also right behind them, showing the life she is leaving yet which she could try to go back to- if she so chooses. Its also the life Pinestar chose, a point of resentment for Tigerstar, not knowing if his father is in the same street Sasha lived in.

COVER ZINE UPDATE
