So did anybody else get Mark Addie’s “Full Monty” reference?
what did you think of the good omens ending?
IT WAS GREAT!
it was alright
It could have been better but ok
It wasn't the best
I didn't like it
IT WAS THE WORST THING EVER!
All of the above?
None of the above?
I love those ffs where Edwina can't stand Anthony but tolerates him for Kate's sake and Anthony tries his best to get her to like him. They're so funny.

Apparently a lot of people get dialogue punctuation wrong despite having an otherwise solid grasp of grammar, possibly because they’re used to writing essays rather than prose. I don’t wanna be the asshole who complains about writing errors and then doesn’t offer to help, so here are the basics summarized as simply as I could manage on my phone (“dialogue tag” just refers to phrases like “he said,” “she whispered,” “they asked”):
“For most dialogue, use a comma after the sentence and don’t capitalize the next word after the quotation mark,” she said.
“But what if you’re using a question mark rather than a period?” they asked.
“When using a dialogue tag, you never capitalize the word after the quotation mark unless it’s a proper noun!” she snapped.
“When breaking up a single sentence with a dialogue tag,” she said, “use commas.”
“This is a single sentence,” she said. “Now, this is a second stand-alone sentence, so there’s no comma after ‘she said.’”
“There’s no dialogue tag after this sentence, so end it with a period rather than a comma.” She frowned, suddenly concerned that the entire post was as unasked for as it was sanctimonious.
And!
“If you’re breaking dialogue up with an action tag”—she waves her hands back and forth—”the dashes go outside the quotation marks.”
Reblog to save a writer’s life.
I want you guys to all start making a bigger stink about Tumblr's Age Verification Horseshit.
Like they tried to change Reblogs and people rightfully got up in arms, this is a LOT worse. In order to have access to any sort of thing dubbed mature, and We haveALL seen what they think is mature, Everything from a black and white photo of a black woman's arm, to posts about IUD recalls, to a nude painted by a 17th century artist, to anything involving the word Trans; you have to send your personal information to a third party site that WILL get hacked, and you will be doxxed. And they can say "Oh shit, well it wasn't us who sent your name address and gender identity to Moldovan teenagers, here's a couple extra minutes in the ball pit.
That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit. Die Gedenken Sind Frie baby. This is all a reaction to people getting uppity about their lowly lowly rights and is being propped up by the same bad actors tht have made life unlivable. Fuck that shit.
"Well it's only being rolled out in Brazil and UK" Yeah, to start. "Well they're being forced to do this by laws." YOu know it's always really funny when these tech giants (Or whatever you call owning tumblr dot com) get really antsy about laws considering they pick and choose which ones they abide by.
This is a breaking point and it's going to be very interesting to see how we proceed from here.

Absolutely insane how much people hated Phillip being introduced for Eloise’s story until the moment they said that Francaela would be the next season. Now Reddit is FULL of people lamenting how Eloise NEEDS her lover NOW and omg it’s so UNFAIR like boo I recall that you were advocating for gay Eloise and now they’re acting like the show is denying her her soulmate
something I've noticed in these reactions against franchaela (for the uninitiated, the wlw main couple from the upcoming season of bridgerton) is that a lot of the things that some of these people are pressed about are the things queer people have to put up with 99% of the time when it comes to media representation
they are finally getting the experience of what it is to not be the center of mainstream media attention and they hate it
I saw a reddit post today where someone said they "didn't have a problem" with it and they "weren't homophobic" but their issue was that this couple had two seasons of sideline development whereas "other couples" did not (mainly eloise's upcoming romance, which is what most of these people are pressed about, since they have a huge need for eloise to be allo het on main)
op said that they were asking for "fairness" and that it's very obvious that these "unequal" treatments are knowing choices by the show's writer (not the books writer) who is herself a queer woman
and I may have responded because, the thing is, that's what all queer people go through with representation all the time
queer characters are always sidelined or underdeveloped or hinted at without being explicitly depicted or not given the same amount of time or care as everyone else by allo het writers, but the audience that's waiting for that is expected to go make fanwork about it and calm down
which is, in tow, how it's been for so long that, for a very very long time, queer themes in media were seen as something "fanfic-y" because that's where most of it had to be housed in, since mainstream media didn't give it room
to make a current example of how this is still a thing, when the interview with the vampire show became popular and people started learning about the books and anne rice and her lore, they immediately assumed that anne rice's issue with fanfic was queer depiction of her very canonically queer characters, and not the whole copyright situation
mainstream media has been so consistently allo and heteronormative that fanwork became the only space for that to change for such a long time which made it became synonymous with slash in people's minds
but when we have the opposite thing happen, when a queer show writer decides to push for some representation in her mainstream show (not a show that was made and aimed from day one at the queer audience, a show that was mainstream), suddenly there's a problem and suddenly they remember equality is good and suddenly the writer's identity is a cause for concern in bias
it's like when fat activists started developing body positive spaces and thin people suddenly were in there like "but what about us?"
and the comparison isn't even fair to bridgerton, because the exact same thing that's happening with franchaela (francesca and michaela, for the uninitiated) is what happened with polin (penelope and colin)
those two had two seasons as side characters of two other couples in which to develop their relationship and their dynamics, especially with the character attention to penelope and her background, which is what has been happening now with francesca
and just like at that time, because of this two season development in the sidelines, the polin season was pushed forward, which caused benedict's season to be pushed back, meanwhile benedict's small development on the side wasn't with his would-be wife, that storyline happened entirely on his season and not before
but nobody was crying for benedict or said it was "unfair writing" that penelope got so much screentime instead of him or said it was a problem that polin got development and a setup when benedict and sophie were nowhere to be seen together yet
but now franchaela is a problem, wonder why that is
this whole bridgerton situation is such an interesting place of observation for media studies and how queerphobia behaves in people who swear up and down they don't have a bias but it's just that, before now, they never had to be confronted to their own privilege
reminder: i get that we feel for fran because michaela left and didn’t tell her, but what would you do if your cousin, who was your best friend and more a kin to a brother than anything else, just died, probably left you his title and the responsibilities you never imagined wanting nor having to take on and on top of it, you thought you got over your feelings for his wife and could be just friends, but then was reminded of how in love with her you are and need space to collect yourself. i get it’s selfish from francesca’s perspective and she’s gonna be hurt, but michaela is hurting too. she’s not selfish for leaving, it just sucks that she didn’t tell fran. when you have so many feelings overwhelming you, sometimes it’s healthier to remove yourself from the situation than let it burn you out. michaela lost part of her family, that grief sits with her the way it sits with francesca. she needs a hug too.
I finally read Hyacinth’s book and I’m flabbergasted at how much Hyacinth was changed for the show. Book!Hyacinth doesn’t gaf about etiquette or finishing lessons. She’s bad at dancing. She’s not interested in marriage and is so blunt and sassy to the point she scares off potential suitors (not that she cares). She’s into sports and shooting and wants adventure, she was illegally sneaking into people’s homes while wearing men’s clothing! Book!Hyacinth would’ve absolutely been besties with show!Eloise rather than that conflict they had in Season 4 over Eloise not being “respectful” of show!Hyacinth’s, uh, feminine interests.
@ Shondaland, feel free to push back Eloise’s season even further and let Hyacinth be Season 6 because cat burglar Hyacinth will be so much more interesting than Eloise’s stepford wife arc.
Eloise Bridgerton is NOT a Pick Me. Never was and never will be. The very definition of Pick Me is a male-centered woman who puts down other women for male validation. When in all hell has Eloise ever sought male validation, or put women down for it?
What Eloise is is a young woman seeing everyone around her submitting to a patriarchal system, and she happens to associate everything she doesn't relate to or agree w or like with said system. Especially when said things are weaponised against women (like "purity" culture, marriage, child bearing, submissive nature, etc.). She's angry because from where she stands, the women around her are ignoring, and even enforcing, these things.
And no, Hyacinth didn't "clock" Eloise or "put her in her place." If anything, this is going to make Eloise realise that while women have different goals and dreams, the system is all the more evil for forcing a single way of living on everyone by rewarding specific behaviours and punishing others. And it'll only strengthen her stand against the system.
Instagram wisdom befitting of Eloise Bridgerton 📚📖
A bit more of Instagram wisdom befitting of Eloise Bridgerton…, because she shouldn’t change her personality and interests to suit others. It’s not a sign of maturity to grow out of being a feminist, on the contrary, it’s a sign of growth becoming one. To all theloise fans out there, do keep an eye out:

When people refer to Aziraphale as being “the short one” and Crowley as being “the tall one” it’s so funny cause like there is a 3 inch height difference between them….
And when they’re sitting down, Crowley slouches, which makes Aziraphale look taller than Crowley does.
