(ooey gooey butter cake)

𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓻𝓮𝓭𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓼

one box of yellow cake mix, brand is irrelevant

one stick of butter

four eggs

1 tsp (or a capful) of vanilla extract

a package of cream cheese (not the tub kind. you don’t want to scrape that out.) [I’d also recommend putting this out on the counter to soften before you start]

four cups of confectioners sugar

𝓪𝓹𝓹𝓪𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓾𝓼𝓮𝓼

bowl (one of fine, but you can just use two if you want)

spatula

pan / casserole dish

measuring cup

oven

𝓻𝓮𝓬𝓲𝓹𝓮

preheat your oven to 350f (im not converting to celsius fuck europe)

melt your butter, i recommend just doing it in the microwave but if you’re a fancy bitch do it on the stove or whatever idc just get it liquified.

in your bowl, put in the cake flour, butter, two eggs, and vanilla extract. mix until it looks like batter, then dump it into the pan. that’s your cake batter.

you can use the same bowl, or if you like doing dishes, pull out your second one. in this one, put your cream cheese, the other two eggs, and another dash of vanilla. stir until its uniform.

(if you find the cream cheese is too hard, i hope you didn’t use a metal bowl because i recommend microwaving it. to negate this in the future, let your cream cheese sit on the counter to soften longer.)

once everything is combined, slowly add your confectioners sugar into the mix by adding a cup or so, stirring, and then adding another cup. do this until you have custard.

pour the custard onto the cake. put in oven for 35-40 minutes until it looks golden brown.

i personally prefer to wait a day before eating it, to let the custard set. you can try it out of the oven, but the texture won’t be right and you’ll burn your mouth.
