"ORDER FOLLOWERS"
"I was just following orders" is NEVER a valid excuse or "justification" for immoral, criminal behavior, and this lame attempt to abdicate personal responsibility SHOULD NEVER BE ACCEPTED as a valid excuse for such behavior.
The Complete and Undeniable Truth - Larken Rose
you can't handle the truth.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police acting as private security for Kinder Morgan (formerly known as ENRON). This oil company is trespassing on First Nation territory, backed by the violent force of the state, this is an act of war. Burnaby Mountain November 21
This video edit was put together by film maker IJI. They have asked us to share it for them.
The video captures events that transpired November 21 on the unceded Coast Salish Territory, commonly known as Burnaby Mountain.
Currently the City of Burnaby and Vancouver, the Mayors of Burnaby and Vancouver, the MP for Burnaby, the majority of Burnaby residents, and all nations whose territory the mountain resides on are opposed to Kinder Morgans project.
However RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) are working in large numbers, 24 hours a day acting as Kinder Morgan’s (a Texas based oil companies) personal security.
Many residents of the area have already been arrested, and the arrests are continuing. Get up to Burnaby Mountain and stand in solidarity with those fighting for the land. You do not have to put yourself in an arrestable position by being on the mountain - there are designated protest areas, if you wish to remain in them you can. We hope to see you there.
This is happening beside my university, my friends are protesting as I type.
Oh my god. Ok sorry but I need to rant because I have been hearing about this non-stop for several months. The police are not “acting as private security for Kinder Morgan” they are enforcing A COURT ORDER. Kinder Morgan got an injunction - something they are unfortunately legally able to do. This injunction says the protestors are not allowed to interfere with their work. A line has (literally) been drawn and if the protestors pass it the RCMP have to arrest them. The cops don’t want to do this. It is their job. They even allowed a grace period of 24 hours for all protestors to decide if they wanted to stay or not. That said no one is happy here. The protestors aren’t happy because Kinder Morgan is trying to drill through an ecological habitat reserve. The city of burnaby isn’t happy because they don’t want this pipeline at all and so far all their attempts to stop it have been shut down (although they are also trying to get an injunction against Kinder Morgan so we’ll see how that goes). The cops sure aren’t happy cause they have to enforce this stupid shit in the rain and cold and probably agree with the protestors but IT’S THEIR JOB. The students aren’t happy cause this shit is happening where we live and go to school, we have no way to stop it and now people randomly yell at you about when you’re walking through campus. So yeah the only happy people are Kinder Morgan and they’re fucking assholes.
We are what we do, if “good people” commit immoral acts, then they are immoral. Those who defend the enforcers of unjust laws, think about what you’re supporting.
They’re officers of the law. It doesn’t matter what they want to enforce. They don’t get to pick and choose what laws they abide by and what laws they ignore. It doesn’t matter if they like it or not. Once they start making those decisions, it renders our government totally useless. Do YOU want the police force, a bunch of armed, trained, fallible human beings, many of whom are ex-military, calling the shots? Sometimes its hard when they can’t decide for themselves, but despite its flaws, they have to keep plugging away with the faith that the system works, or there’d be chaos. I don’t like it either, but for every instance that it fails us, there’s a thousand times when it doesn’t. Not trying to be inflammatory, and I don’t really know anything about the situation, but please stop making the assumption that it’s up to the police to make these choices. It’s not. It’s up to us as citizens to elect the right people. It’s not their fault, it’s the people who are in charge.
OBEDIENCE IS NOT A VIRTUE.
Police are just people. Wearing a costume doesn't give them the right to use violent force on peaceful people. Laws give these costumed people an excuse to not feel back about violently assaulting peaceful people, since the law says it's ok.
Law is used as permission to ignore your conscience. "Someone else makes the decisions for me so I'm no longer responsible for my own actions."
"Just doing my job" echos through centuries of bloodshed and oppression.

What a twisted bunch of sadistic psychos.
Applause. I’ve never heard that before, here, for the Queen as she leaves the Cenotaph. No doubt because of the dangers thought to be present in today’s ceremony and saluting her courage in coming here.
David Dimbleby, legendary commentator for the BBC, on the applause heard for the Queen as the royal party leaves the Remembrance Service. 9th November 2014 (via queenandherduke)
For someone who sends young people to kill and die under foreign skies, she has the gall to feign grief? The red carpet she walks on is awash with blood, blood paved the way for her empire.
Today is Remembrance Sunday! Raise a poppy and have a moment of silence to remember the many fallen heros that we give thanks too for the much loved freedom we enjoy today!
Those who wear the crown should drown in blood. The Union Jack is but a butcher's apron. Do not forget all those who died fighting your dirty wars.
opiate of the masses
A new government report questions the effectiveness of our war on drugs in Afghanistan.
What are you wearing those opium flowers for, oh good people of North America?
