Amelia smiled at Remi’s generosity, honest feedback was something she was prepared to give. She was no expert when it came to baking but she could never deny a good pastry. The smell was enough to make Amelia want to open it there and then, she had originally been planning to wait until her morning break to taste Remi’s creation but that sent, it reminded her or citrus but there was something else, but she couldn’t quite place it.

Amelia unwrapped the expertly wrapped treat and inhaled the scent of the pasty. 

“This smells absolutely amazing, I think there is a touch of citrus here but i’m not sure there is something else I just can’t quite place.” she smiled eager to take a bite.

Remi nodded, watching Amelia’s face as she tried to deduce what unknown ingredients were contained in the pastry. “You’re off to a good start.” she promised.

It’s been some time for Kade being up and about on his feet. His injuries from remembrance day left him down and out. But he’s been back to his full duties for a few weeks now. Which meant falling back into his old habits. Though his demeanor was a little sourer than it was before. His easy-going nature was replaced with a shorter, more blunt response.

Even in his worst moods, Kade can’t help but get a little pick me up before he starts his day. One that was on the sweet side. There wasn’t much time to get things ready with the storm coming in, with only seven hours to do so. He would need a sugar rush to at least get him through those hours.

When he saw Remi step out with what looked to be something hot and sweet. Kade was quick to raise his hand.  “ I wouldn’t mind trying one of those,” he said, stepping closer, giving the owner a slight smile. “ Is the secret ingredient caffeine cause I really need a boost.“

Remi was glad to see more interest in her free pastries as Kade raised his hand. She quickly wrapped one up and handed it to him. 

“Unfortunately not, but that’s a good idea. Although the baristas might resent me encroaching on what is normally their drug to push.” Remi replied with a laugh. “Let me know what you think.” she asked, stepping back and watching him.

Early morning were kind of a thing for Amelia, he ritual before starting another long day in charge of the entire medical workings of Tera, and here she was yet again as she was every other morning awaiting her morning coffee. Apparently however today was starting off particularly well, with the tantalising offer of a free pastry Amelia knew that she shouldn’t, but it was free after all. She would just have to go for an extra long run this afternoon.  “If there are any left, I would love one.” Amelia said raising her hand and splitting apart from the crowd to walk over the girl.  “Are you sure I can’t pay you anything go.” the doctor earnestly she had always believed that hard work deserved to appreciated and skills deserved to be paid for. 

Remi wrapped a piece of parchment paper expertly around one of the pastries on the plate and handed it to Amelia as she approached. 

“Oh no, the only price I ask is honest feedback.” Remi insisted, bracing herself for the comments from someone who really hates the combination of lime and blackberries she added.

Remi was in the middle of making a list of supplies she would need to pick up after work when she heard the bell out front ring, singling that the café was actually open and would soon see the morning rush of customers. She’d already been at work for hours, early mornings being one of the several high prices of being a baker. 

She leaned over to open the lower oven door and used a towel to pull out a fresh batch of pastries. She was actually glad the place was open for business, as this latest batch was something she’d been experimenting with and she was ready for public feedback. After assembling them on a large plate in an attractive manner, she headed out to the front of the shop. 

“Excuse me, who wants a free pastry... with a secret ingredient?” she asked out to the small group of customers that had gathered near the counter, most either waiting to order or waiting on the coffee they’d just paid for.
