“Oh, I handled it perfectly,” Bleiss said, smiling with the strained serenity of someone planning a murder.

“You called Weiss a ‘discount snow princess with a superiority complex.’”

“That was an objective observation.”

“Then you called Jaune a ‘blind, emotionally constipated blond bastard.’”

Bleiss’s eye twitched.

“Because the stupid motherfucker kept chasing after Weiss while I was standing right there—prettier, funnier, richer, and significantly more willing to let him touch my ass.”

“So you were jealous?”

“Jealous?” Bleiss snapped. “I wasn’t jealous. I was fucking insulted.”

“You challenged Weiss to a duel.”

“She looked at him.”

Team BBNT: The Taupe Problem (RWBY Shitpost)

There were many dangers at Beacon Academy.

Grimm.

Professor Glynda.

Tuition.

Ying when she skipped breakfast.

But the greatest threat to Team BBNT's collective lifespan was Taupe White's ability to appear literally anywhere.

Bleiss was peacefully reading in the dorm room.

A hand suddenly emerged from behind her shoulder.

"Your book is upside down."

Bleiss screamed.

The book flew through a window.

Taupe blinked.

"...How."

"You were NOT THERE FIVE SECONDS AGO!"

Taupe tilted her head.

"I walked in."

"The door never opened!"

"I used the door."

"The door is ACROSS THE ROOM!"

Taupe simply walked away.

Bleiss immediately developed a migraine.

Ying was punching a training dummy.

"COME ON!"

WHAM!

"HIT ME BACK!"

WHAM!

"YOU COWARD!"

"Violence isn't the answer."

Ying launched herself ten feet into the air.

Taupe was suddenly standing beside the dummy.

Ying landed.

"TAUPE!"

"Hello."

"WHERE THE HELL DID YOU COME FROM?!"

"The hallway."

"The HALLWAY IS FIFTY FEET AWAY!"

Taupe shrugged.

Ying spent the next ten minutes searching for hidden teleportation semblances.

Taupe didn't have one.

This somehow made it worse.

Navy was practicing guitar alone.

Everything was peaceful.

Calm.

Relaxing.

She started singing.

Then a second voice joined her.

Perfectly in sync.

Navy froze.

Slowly turned her head.

Taupe was sitting beside her.

Navy screamed so hard three first-years thought a Grimm attack had started.

"T-TAUPE!"

"Nice song."

"HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN THERE?!"

Taupe considered this.

"...Most of it."

Navy nearly died.

The worst incident happened during a team meeting.

Bleiss.

Ying.

Navy.

All present.

No Taupe.

"Where's Taupe?" asked Navy.

"No clue," said Bleiss.

"Probably lurking in a vent," Ying grumbled.

A voice came from directly behind them.

"I'm right here."

The entire table flipped over.

All three girls immediately armed themselves.

Taupe stood motionless.

Holding a cup of tea.

Bleiss pointed her rapier.

"HOW?!"

Ying pointed her sword.

"EXPLAIN YOURSELF!"

Navy pointed her guitar.

"STOP DOING THIS!"

Taupe sipped her tea.

"I entered the room."

"The DOOR NEVER OPENED!"

Taupe pointed.

The door was still wide open.

Everyone stared.

Nobody remembered it opening.

Several months later, Team BBNT accepted reality.

Taupe wasn't sneaking around.

She wasn't teleporting.

She wasn't using her semblance.

She wasn't even trying.

She simply possessed an eldritch ability to go completely unnoticed until she spoke.

One evening, the team returned to their dorm.

Taupe was sitting on the couch.

Reading a book.

Bleiss jumped.

Ying cursed.

Navy nearly threw her guitar.

Taupe looked up.

"...I've been here for three hours."

The three of them stared.

Silence.

Finally, Ying sighed.

"Yeah, that sounds about right."

And for the first time in Team BBNT history, nobody questioned it.

Because the answer was somehow always the same.

Taupe had been there the whole time.

An elegant black-and-red Dust revolver-rapier, modeled after the Schnee family’s Myrtenaster but built for a far more aggressive fighting style.

Bleiss cycles different Dust types through its chamber to enhance her sword strikes, fire elemental attacks, and create offensive Glyph combinations.

Raw Strength

A massive double-edged battle-axe that transforms into a heavy semi-automatic machine gun. It allows Ying to tear through enemies at close range before unloading sustained fire into distant targets.

Unchained Determination

A pair of rocket-powered gauntlets equipped with explosive strikes and high-powered missiles. They increase Ying’s mobility and let her launch herself directly into combat.

Navy: Rebel Noise

A Dust-powered electric guitar that doubles as a heavy melee weapon and sonic cannon. Shotgun mechanisms are built into its body, allowing Navy to blast enemies while playing explosive sound-based attacks.

The weapon can produce sonic shockwaves, Dust-enhanced riffs, and recoil-powered movement across the battlefield.

Taupe: Silence & Stillness

A pair of slender, needle-like combat daggers designed for stealth and precision. Their blades can channel Poison Dust to weaken targets through carefully placed strikes.

They can also be thrown or connected through concealed wires, allowing Taupe to silently trap, disarm, or eliminate enemies from the shadows.

Jaune had a plan.

A terrible plan.

But a plan.

The moment he spotted the black-haired girl with crimson streaks standing by the Beacon courtyard fountain, he straightened his hoodie and flashed what he hoped was a confident smile.

“Hey,” he said. “So, uh… are you from Atlas? Because you’re the coolest thing I’ve seen all day.”

The girl slowly turned.

Crimson eyes.

Smirk.

Danger.

“Oh?” she purred.

Jaune immediately felt like he had stepped on a landmine.

The girl stalked closer.

“Trying to flirt with me, blondie?”

“W-Well, maybe a little—”

“A little?” She grabbed the front of his hoodie and pulled him down to eye level. “If you’re gonna flirt, commit.”

Jaune’s face turned bright red.

Nearby students stopped walking.

Bleiss grinned wider.

“What’s your name?”

“J-Jaune.”

“Jaune, huh?” She traced a finger under his chin. “Cute name.”

Jaune’s brain crashed.

“U-Uh—”

“You single?”

“Y-Yes?”

“Good.”

“What?”

“What?”

Jaune stared.

Bleiss stared back.

Then she casually slung an arm around his shoulders.

“Congratulations, Jaune. You had the guts to flirt with me. That’s already more impressive than most people here.”

His face somehow became even redder.

Across the courtyard, Ying watched the scene.

“…The idiot is being hunted.”

Navy nodded.

“Yep.”

Taupe quietly raised a notebook.

Estimated survival chance: 42%.

Back in the courtyard, Bleiss was still teasing him relentlessly.

“So, Jaune, tell me about yourself.”

“I-I don’t know what to say.”

“Aww.” She squeezed his shoulder. “He’s nervous. That’s adorable.”

Jaune wanted the ground to swallow him whole.

The worst part?

A tiny part of him was actually enjoying this.

And that terrified him more than anything.

Prompt

In the original series, Team RWBY sorta confronted their past selves in volume 9. What would it be like if Team BBNT did the same thing?

After falling into the Ever After, Team BBNT encounters four younger versions of themselves—idealized reflections from before Beacon changed them.

Bleiss faces a younger self who still believes she can escape the Schnee legacy without becoming bitter and foul-mouthed.

Ying meets a version of herself who thinks strength alone can solve every problem and that anger is all she needs.

Navy confronts the carefree punk girl who treats life as one big joke and hasn’t experienced heartbreak or loss.

Taupe comes face-to-face with a quieter, more hopeful version of herself who still believes staying hidden will keep everyone safe.

Unlike Team RWBY’s emotional introspection, the encounter quickly devolves into arguments, insults, challenges, and at least one property-damaging fistfight.

By the end, Team BBNT is forced to admit a painful truth:

They didn’t become better people because they overcame their flaws.

They became better people because they learned to live with them.

Or, as Ying eloquently puts it: “Turns out growing up is realizing your younger self was an idiot. The problem is I’m still an idiot, just with more experience.”

“Alright!” announced Glynda Goodwitch. “Next sparring match: Ren and Navy.”

The entire class immediately looked between the two.

Ren calmly stood and walked toward the arena.

Navy stared.

“…”

“…”

“…”

“Well?” Ying asked.

Navy slowly pointed at Ren.

“That’s Ren.”

“Yes,” Glynda replied.

“I don’t wanna punch Ren.”

“You are in combat class.”

“I know, but that’s Ren.”

Across the room, Ren gave a small polite wave.

Navy immediately waved back.

Glynda pinched the bridge of her nose.

“Begin.”

Neither moved.

Ren stood in his stance.

Navy stood in hers.

Then she raised a hand.

“Hey Ren.”

“Cool.”

Ren was graceful, precise, and disciplined.

Navy was fast, aggressive, and surprisingly athletic.

The fight was actually quite good.

Until Ren landed a clean hit.

“Point for Ren.”

Navy stopped.

Ren stopped.

The class watched.

Navy looked offended.

Not because she’d been hit.

Because Ren had hit her.

“Ren.”

“Yes?”

“You stabbed me.”

“It was a training weapon.”

“Still.”

“My apologies.”

“Okay, apology accepted.”

The fight resumed.

The arena applauded.

Ren offered a hand.

“You fought well.”

Navy stared at the hand.

“I still got a date for noodles out of this.”

The entire class erupted into laughter.

Ren’s ears turned slightly red.

From the stands, Ying slammed a fist onto the railing.

“FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST KISS ALREADY!”

“YING!” shouted three professors simultaneously.

Navy, meanwhile, was already walking beside Ren toward the exit.

“So. Noodles?”

Ren sighed in defeat.

“…Noodles.”

And somehow that was considered a victory for both of them.
