I wish there were more agere fanfics and stories in general where the caregiver's main goal (or at least, a very major one) would be making sure the regression doesn't become another scary place for the regressor.

One where the trauma that's often the cause of things like involuntary regression isn't just something in the background, but something the caregiver actually considers when caring for the regressor.

To be honest, that's what I think lots of real life caregivers for regressors should be doing. They should be keeping the reasons the regressor is regressing in mind and they should still be respecting things like boundaries despite the regressed age.

I don't know if this is seen as common sense in agere circles or not, but I've certainly read too many stories and fics where it isn't common sense. I'm definitely not mad at individual creators, I'm just sad that I've had to start avoiding fandom agere content to the point of blocking tags.

I've probably said this before, but I 100% hc Sailor Moon as a regressor

Partially because of how often she cries, and just how easily she cries (when someone is slightly snappy with her, or when she falls over)

But also I love how much the other Guardians step in and help her when she struggles with something or starts crying

I don't have any other headcanons at the moment, this just stood out to me, and I've always thought of her as a regressor

Here too, Usagi slips and falls and starts crying, and immediately Makoto (Sailor Jupiter) comes up to her like, "What's wrong Usagi?" It just gives me big sister vibes

I definitely think the other Sailor Guardians look after her

Also, I think Mars is a flip, and she and Moon act like siblings who get into little arguments when they're both little

Little Gonta and Caregiver Shuichi headcanons!

•Shuichi, as a detective, caught on pretty quickly onto Gonta’s regression

•And, when he gently confronted him about it, Gonta didn’t want to lie— he felt terrible about doing so

•So— he told Shuichi the truth, admitting that he did, in fact, happen to age regress

•Shuichi was quick to reach out and hold his hand, his smaller hand lacing through Gonta’s bigger one as he offered a reassuring smile

•“It’s no worries— I’d consider myself pretty educated on the topic. If you’re comfortable— I could definitely look after you!”

•Shuichi was just putting that out there, in case Gonta did happen to want that

•And, when Gonta gave a small smile and an excited nod, Shuichi kept true to his word

•He was glad to see that Gonta seemed comfortable regressing around him, so the only thing he could do is try to make an environment in which he would be safe and happy

•Shuichi and Gonta liked playing hide and seek together!

•Since Gonta is more muscular and big, they tend to do it outside, so that he has more places that he can hide, and it’s fair game

•They both have fun hiding, and finding each other— they often take turns!

•Gonta also would probably enjoy playing and looking at bugs, even when he’s regressed

•Sometimes, depending on the bug, it scares Shuichi a little, but he can certainly put up with it!

•For the most part, though, Gonta just likes more quiet and calming things when he’s regressed, like cuddles, naps, or sometimes even watching a movie

•He finds it nice— because it gave him a childhood he didn’t particularly get to have

•He does like to play and mess around sometimes— but he likes it to stay more calm and comforting

•Besides, the feeling of Shuichi’s arms wrapped around him makes him feel safe, and loved, and he likes that feeling more than he thinks he could ever put into words

•Coloring sometimes is nice, though

•He’ll do it occasionally— with a piece of paper and crayons and colored pencils scattered across the floor

•Shuichi always likes to see what he’s drawn! It’s adorable to see it

•Shuichi doesn’t have to worry too much about sending Gonta to the corner or lightly scolding him— Gonta’s a relatively obedient regressor, and would never try to act out unless it was by accident

•Shuichi would also probably like to play with Gonta’s hair!

•It’s a small thing, but it really did make Gonta less tense and has even lulled him to sleep a couple times

•It’s truly a happy moment, for the both of them

•So, as a conclusion, Shuichi is a calm and patient caregiver, and Gonta is a rather quiet yet also affectionate regressor!

•Shuichi would always try to make sure Gonta is safe and loved, and Gonta couldn’t be more thankful for all that Shuichi had done for him

•They both love and care for each other dearly

•That really means a lot, when it comes down to it

Caregiver Kiyotaka with a Regressed reader who has trouble sleeping!

•Kiyotaka knows how annoying not being able to sleep can be, and he also knows how detrimental it can be to your health

•It must be extra hard on you, seeeing as you’re regressed!!

•So, he’s going to do as much as he can to ensure you get at least a little sleep

•He would do lots of research on how to help someone sleep better!!

•He’ll set the room to a suitable temperature, or one that isn’t too hot

•He’d also try to prepare you some milk!! He heard that can help

•If it would help, he would be more than happy to hold you close and cuddle you, in simple hopes to help you fall asleep

•He could also get you noise-cancelling headphones, if you wanted!!

•And of course, he would make sure you have your stuffies whenever you try to head off to sleep, dimming the lights once you have them safely tucked in your arms

•If you ever did manage to sleep, he would never wake you, regardless of what was happening

•School? Too bad, it can wait. Work? He calls you in sick. A friend’s house to attend? He’d explain the situation to your friend if you were comfortable, of course leaving out the regression part if you wanted him to

•He knows how awful lack of sleep can be, but he’d be there to try and help you, and calm you down when you get upset or frustrated

•So— Don’t worry! He’s going to do his absolute best to help you!

Caregiver Gundham Headcanons!

•Gundham wasn’t too sure about what age regression was when you told him, but he easily comprehended it after you geve an explanation

•“I see... Thank you for telling me this. I would be rather pleased to help you if you ever find you need it.”

•And, when you clung to him like glue each time you regressed, he was fine with watching after you, and even entertaining you

•He definitely softens up for you— Typically referring to you as “young dark mortal”

•He’s patient and careful with you, though, so that makes up for the over the top pet name!

•He’ll let you hold his hamsters, and they’ll even perform tricks for you!

•It’s pretty funny to watch, but also an endearing moment for the both of you

•You’re laughing, and Gundham has a sincere, wide grin on his face

•It makes the both of you feel contented

•Gundham usually gives you packaged things— like, for instance, cereal, applesauce, animal crackers

•He can make you hot dogs!! And he’s not half bad at grilled cheese sandwiches, but... sometimes he burns it

•He’ll admit, he’s never been in a situation where a person in the mindset of a kid laughed at him because he burnt something

•Gundham would take care to get to know your stuffed animals— even if he made a couple mistakes at first

•He wants to make sure that he knows the names and personalities of something of such importance to you

•If you ever happened to regress, or get little in a place that was more public, he would take care to find a way to pull you away from the situation or excuse you two

•He knows it’s not your fault— and he can guess how uncomfortable it might be to regress in a public place

•Sometimes you wear his scarf!! It’s comforting, and mostly has his scent

•It’s overall familiar

•And besides— you’ll never hear him admit it, but he thinks you look rather adorable with it on

•However, if you ever felt sad, or angry— or even began regressing due to stress, he’d be patient with you

•He’d nod and wait until you were ready to be spoken to, and then gesture over to the seat beside him

•“I understand you’re upset. Would you like to come over here and talk to me about it a little more?”

•Any guard he previously had up is gone, because he knows that right now, he needs to express vulnerability just as you’re showing him, and he’s happy you trust him enough for that

•Afterwords, it usually ends in close cuddles or a tickle fight to lighten up the mood

•Gundham doesn’t exactly know how to handle misbehavior, so he probably wouldn’t send you to the corner or take anything away

•He’d simply try to explain to you why what you did was wrong, and how to better handle that in the future

•He’s careful to sound patient and understanding!!

•Gundham would also probably like messing around with blocks with you— if you liked them, as well

•He’s certainly not the childish type, but the amusement you two get out of it makes him happy

•You always seem so amazed whenever you two stack blocks on top of each other, and honestly— it’s really adorable!

•So— Gundham, overall, is a really kind caregiver once he softens up

Shuichi would be a protective big brother as a caregiver. He would make you're okay and if you're not, he would figure out why. He would care about you and would do his best to take care of you, especially if you're overwhelmed or genuinely not doing well.

He loves playing games like Clue with you when you're age regresssed. He also likes reading Nancy Drew books to you. He will also teach you how to play chess, if you're interested in learning. He looks out for you because you're his little sibling.
