AEW DYNAMITE • June 3, 2026
Renee only nodded; a small smile tugging on her lips as the waitress returned to their table. "Hi, thank you, can I have the pasta of the day?" The usual order of hers falling from her lips without pause as she tried to hide her excitement that only simmered under the surface. The both of them could be such little kids sometimes; she secretly loved it.
"Hmm, and we all know how much you like your stylish coats. I have not missed you taking mine." And sometimes looking better; not that she would ever admit to that. With practised ease, Renee handled the slight dip at the words RJ left unspoken. "You always were good at finding those deals." She reached to sip at her drink again as her eyes flashed with amusement she couldn't hide now.
A comfortable lull of silence came over as Renee scrolled on her phone with a mission on her mind. "She accepted my follow request." She moved her phone for RJ to read. "Quickly as well." She hummed as she continued her scrolling, hoping to find another way to their target.
"Oh, dear, that's tragic," Renee mostly muttered to herself before pushing her phone into rj's face. Old habits return now as she judged the other girl's outfit.
"i'll take..." rj's eyes quickly cruised across the menu to make sure his deicion was final. "your avo on toast with scrambled eggs. and another coffee, please." he smiled at the waitress, and then his attention slipped back on renee. funny, neither of them changed habits.
"what can I say," he checked his nails, "it needs to be said you got good style." he pulled a kiss ass smile that cutely scrunched his nose. "don't pretend to be the sole victim, here, I remember you copying my style ideas once or twice. fancy showing up like twins again?" that banter was a soft comfort he made sure to never miss for years... but now, it was still there like nothing had happened and all their misunderstandings just desappeared. and he was more than happy to keep it so. "wouldn't mind some make-up too, for the party, what do you think? I know we aren't so young and beautiful anymore, but we could get ready together and have a cheeky pre-drink before we go. also, it's good for the planet to go with one car."
when she showed him the phone, rj leaned in, looking curiously, eyes scanning the screen and all the info that could offer. he frowned. "is that her profile picture?" an exagerated disgust pulled his features. "god she truly has zero taste. doesn't surprise me her account is private. I would hide these pictures too if I went around dressed like this. what do you think she will wear at the party?" he leaned over. "bet it would be a tragic number."
renee couldn't keep the smile off her face as she remembered the times they matched; sometimes without even trying. even eddie had made comments in the past. she could admit there had been mostly good times sprinkled in there, before it had all fallen apart that was.
"hmm, you read my mind," renee smiled around the glass of her drink as she sipped. she had to shake her head in amusement as he continued to speak. oh, she may have missed him more than she realised; their humour was so evenly matched. it was what had made them friends in the first place.
"as long as you don't drink all of it too fast. we need to pace ourselves now." renee commented with a chuckle of her own as she remembered their past drinking sessions. the times they would turn up to tv a little bit still buzzed were countless. not that they could do that now. they were getting too old, not that renee was ready to fully admit that. still, she had enough in her for this fight. everything she had worked hard for was not going to be snatched by a little daddy's girl.
"oh, for sure. i doubt she even knows what class is." a beat of comfortable silence washed over the pair and it wasn't long before their food was being settled in front of them. smiling her thanks, renee only relaxed even more. her fingers moved over the screen as she typed a comment on the latest post.
"pre-drinks would work so well. we can't arrive too early and look desperate."
"I think I can comfortably say that of all the children of professional wrestlers in the world, this is by far the cutest."
"Did @ReneePaquette and @GarciaWrestling plan their outfits?"
@ReneePaquette: We did.
