even after moving countries; the idea of turning up to a blind date organised by new found friends had butterflies settling in her stomach. not for the first time that evening was renee wondering why she had even accepted this. well, she knew why if the growing homesickness was anything to go by.
thankfully, the bar that had been chosen was one she had been frequenting; it brought her the slight comfort needed. her hands brushed down the sides of her little black dress clinging to her curves as she stepped into the bar. the familiar music sounding out as the chatter of conversations continued in a low hum.
her eyes found her phone; the message that table three had been reserved stared back at her. table three was empty and she had to fight off the lump in her throat. she was early, that's all. renee was early for all things, and this time was no different.
renee brushed a lock of her blonde curls from her face before settling down; facing the door and placing her phone screen down onto the table. she forced her attention towards the menus before her as a way of quietening her own thoughts.
Colby's dating life wasn't anything too exciting since coming off working the Indies and working for WWE. He's had himself some flings here and there, occasional dates but nothing really that stuck. He had been offered the chance to go on this blind date step up for him, why the hell not? Couldn't have gone any worst than any of his previous dates after all. He came to the bar, dressed up in a black buttoned down shirt, tight skinny jeans, and backwards baseball hat.
He had been told that table number three had been reserved for them. He approached the table, seeing the beautiful blonde sitting there obviously nervous. "Hey. You must be Renee, right? It's nice to finally meet you." He said with a smile, trying to break the ice for her own comfort. "You look amazing, by the way."
the presence at the edge of the table had her looking up before he had spoken. "yes, hi, you must be colby?" her hand was already out to shake his by the time her own words had finished falling from her lips. those siren eyes of hers slightly trailed over him; staying on those tight jeans a second too long. "oh, thank you," renee looked down at herself; a slight pink flush moving over her cheeks before she gained control of her reactions. hopefully, anyway, she thought to herself.
"you do as well," a smile tugged on her lips as she found herself relaxing in his company; the walls that had been up without her truly knowing slowly lowered. "do you do blind dating a lot?" renee couldn't help but question; both out of curiosity and amusement of the situation she found herself in, not that she wasn't beginning to enjoy herself, mind you.
"yeah, nice to meet you Renee." He grins, shaking her head softly while looking into her beautiful eyes. She was even more beautiful than her pictures had suggested, he couldn't keep his eyes off of her. It was like she was the only person in that bar who mattered in that moment.
"No actually." He laughed answering her question, he at himself down next to the blonde. "This is actually my first time. I've been trying to date, wrestling has made that department really hard, you know?" He said, looking at her. "What about you? Do you do blind dating a lot?"
Renee found herself nodding along in agreement. At first she had thought it was because she had moved countries but it seemed the dating pool around such a schedule that wrestling demanded was beyond difficult. "Only once before," she finally admitted as her usual smile began to tug on her lips.
"It didn't start as well as this has," her smile only widened as the words left her. She could feel herself calming with each passing moment whilst surprising herself at how easy the conversation flowed.
"But yes, I have come to realise it's a lot harder than I thought." Her lips parted to continue speaking when the waitress moved in; wanting to take their choice of drink.
Wembley Stadium is not just another match for you, Will. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, man. That wave is only going to come in once. You get one chance to catch it. It's right here, man, right in front of you. Open your eyes!
