Update on our Wally princess: Wally fell ill while we were out of town and started vomiting his food and all together stopped eating. We got home the next day and noticed he’d lost a significant amount of weight in only a week and was incredibly thirsty. We thought maybe he ate something bad but then it took a turn for the worse when there was blood coming out of his rear end and he had absolutely no energy. So we admitted him to the animal hospital where he was diagnosed with advanced stages of diabetes. We had no idea because his breed is naturally lazy and we had no indications that he would be suffering from that. His body had started to find fuel from itself that it wasn’t getting from his food. So they had to keep him at the hospital to give him fluids because his body was dehydrated and they needed to see if they could get his blood sugar levels back on track. Today I was updated by the vet that he is responding well to the insulin shots and he has gotten his appetite back. He’ll have to stay there for another day so they can monitor his levels. Good news is he’s responding to the insulin which means we will have to administer 2 daily insulin shots from here on out. I wish we’d caught this sooner and I feel terrible that he’s going through this. Please keep some positive healing vibes coming his way and thank you so much for the love. Also, get your pets checked!! It’s better to catch it sooner than later. I recommend @westcharlestonanimalhospital more than any other place I’ve taken my kiddos to. They are incredible with their service and it makes me feel better about my baby Wally being in great caring hands. (at West Charleston Animal Hospital)
