nowadays, johnny gets to take refuge under your umbrella. it’s too small to fit the both of you, but one soaked sleeve is better than an unexpected shower with clothes on he thinks.

the drive home is quiet. 

haechan navigates the way to your home with one wrist draped over the steering wheel lazily, the other is placed over the stick shift, intertwined with yours; his thumb strokes the back of your hand in slow, calming motion. haechan steals a glance at you and catches your eyes, giving you a soft grin before adverting his attention back to the road before him. 

soon, he’s pulling into your driveway. he shuts off the engine and twists in his seat to be facing you. 

what’s going on in that pretty little mind of yours, haechan asks cheekily. he gives your hand a squeeze in protest when you shake your head, urging you to speak your mind. 

i was just thinking about if this is going to last forever, you say quietly. 

you can’t possibly be thinking about us breaking up on the first date, he laughs, his head falling back against the headrest of his seat. 

i can’t help it, you protest weakly as you pull your hand from his grasp. i just don’t want to act a fool only to have you break my heart at the end of the day. 

silence fills the space between you two once more. after what seems like an eternity, haechan clears his throat. he sits up in seat properly, leaning over the stick shift and entering your head space. he rests his forehead against yours, his lips just mere centimeters apart from yours. 

you’ve been breaking my heart since the day i met you, he whispers, getting impossibly closer to you. 

and i think i’m okay with letting you get away with it.

You look outside your window and into the room across from yours, seeing Neighbor!Donghyuck dancing wildly and lip syncing to what seemed to be Michael Jackson blasting from his speakers. You laugh out loud when your eyes meet and he stops his frantic dancing, waving shyly at you before shutting his blinds to cover his embarrassment.

Since when did the boy next door get so cute?

You wake when a tickling sensation warms across your face. You giggle causing Mark to pull away with a confused expression on his face.

What’s wrong?, he questioned you, his lips forming into a pout.

Your stubble, you smile sleepily, it tickles when you kiss me.

I’ll take the floor, Jeno insists. It’s fine anyways, you know I can fall asleep anywhere. You reluctantly give in, nodding to him as you climb under his covers as he takes his position on the makeshift bed next to you.

A half an hour later, you still have yet to fall asleep. You raise your head off his pillow, taking a peak at the boy you suspected to already be asleep on the ground. You let out a yelp when you find that Jeno’s eyes stare right back at you with a knowing look etched upon his face. 

Can’t sleep?, he questions. You shake your head, scooting closer to the edge of the bed so that you could see him better. He does the same, twisting onto his side as he gazes up at you with crescent eyes. Let’s talk, then. 

The both of you spend hours rambling on about nothing yet everything. That night, you and Jeno drift off to sleep with your hand dangling off his bed, fingers lightly intertwined with his.

You and Mark sit on the hood of his car as you look down the valley to the twinkling city lights. Even with a view like this, his eyes always find their way back to the real view: you.

Stop looking at me, you smile. You scoot closer to him, leaning to rest your head against his shoulder.

I like you, he blurts out loud. He feels you tense up and feels his heart sink, preparing himself for rejection. He can’t meet your eyes when you sit up to face him.

I know, you grin. I was wondering when you would finally tell me, though. Mark lets out a nervous laugh, shaking his head. He feels your hands slowly intertwine themselves with his, and only then does he look up.

I like you too, you laugh. His eyes widen in disbelief and in an instant, he feels like his heart is beating again. When he finally looks up and meets your eyes, he feels like he’s falling for you for the first time.

The city lights in front of you can’t even compare to how bright your smile is.

Jungwoo doesn’t look too mad as you both watch as the last bus pulls away from its stop for the night. He tries to stifle his laugh when he faces your annoyed expression. 

Why didn’t you leave, you groan. I was just tying my stupid shoes. I could’ve walked home by myself, Woo. You had a chance of catching the bus!

What if I wanted to walk with you for a little longer, he mutters. A part of him hopes you couldn’t hear him, but the other hopes you did. 

What?, you question. The coldness that nips at your cheeks aren’t the only reason why they’re red anymore. 

I wanted to be with you, Jungwoo says a little louder. He takes your hand in his, intertwining your fingers before giving it a small squeeze. 

Let’s go, he smiles an shy smile. I’ll walk you home tonight.
