🐾 * addition to the family
@mveraki
her coworkers often teased her, dubbing her the cat lady for the ages, but she took it all in playful stride as it was meant in jest because the reality was that she was positively smitten with the two kittens she kept at home. returning to her apartment to see the pairs of bright blue eyes staring up at her and the affectionate purrs as they nuzzled against her legs was a feeling that she could not put into words. it was all those warm, fuzzy feelings that prompted her to bring cream and mocha out with her in search for another member. she’d gathered the birman kittens from the same litter but perhaps they needed a fresh face to welcome to the family. the animal shelter was a bit of a ways away for her but the trip was worth it as she took her first step past the entrance and was greeted with walls filled with kittens, puppies and other pets galore. holding the crate where mocha and cream slept peacefully, she stood nearly starstruck at the desk with a bright glimmer in her eyes. there was no way she was leaving without a new cat to call her own today.
💊 * doctor’s in
@wickedxshadows
while she was still going through her residency to officially obtain her status as a cardiac surgeon, there were still other obligations she had to fulfill as a licensed M.D. and as such haeun often found herself inside of a patient’s room simply for even the most minor reasons for visitation. she didn’t mind though. it was a bit of a reprieve for her among all the other examinations and operations she was scheduled for outside of her medical journal studies. therefore she could not bring herself to complain in the slightest. she carried with her the chart of her next assigned appointment and preceded her entry with a light knock to the door, a loosely curled ponytail bobbing behind her as her first meeting with a certain hana tuan began with a comforting smile and a friendly, “hello!”

– he watched her drink in joy, he knew she loved it. another smile forming before he tilted his head, observing what she wore, or better said from what he could see from here.
he listened to her talk, keeping quiet to take inevery word but also to try to find any hidden message behind it.
he chuckled, it was a rare sound of him but he was amused and also had secretly a few shots himself down.
“ am i your favourite aswell? because iM so bored without you here. ”
she couldn’t resist the sweet fruitiness of the cocktail. it went down so smoothly and was proportioned like a dream. she lifted the small toothpick from the glass to pluck free a cherry, the voluptuous fruit pushed past her lips to chew upon in simple delight. she could feel his eyes on her and she kept her cool. she’d dressed the club part as she was visiting a club but the revealing nature of the attire available to her in stores hardly left much to the imagination these days and to receive such looks was practically a given. still, though, she subtly and subconsciously tugged at the hem of her dress to bring it a bit further down her thigh if at all possible. however, she kept the banter going as she made to reach for her glass once more with an enthusiastic nod in response to his question. “of course! it’s not often the owner upstages his own barkeep. kudos.” she then went on to smile from behind the rim of her glass with a quiet laugh. “i’m sure you still have fun here. this whole place is yours and everyone looks up to you. i bet everyone tries to get close to you, don’t they?”
I don’t know what is this, but I can’t stop staring at her lips

Vincent cannot help by smile at the woman’s reply to his joke. She was probably going to need a glass of wine or two to get herself through her date’s insipid ramblings. What was he going on about again? The waiter had only been standing at their table for a minute and he was already tuning the guy out. “It’s not a problem, miss,” Vincent nods at the woman before taking his leave.
There was never time for Vincent to go on dates and at times he cursed his packed work schedule. Although he wasn’t short on friends (being a bartender had its perks- everyone loved a bartender), he did feel lonely at times. He had been unattached for longer than he would like to admit but after witnessing the difficult time his customer was having, Vincent allowed himself to feel lucky for not having to deal with awkward first dates like that.
Such thoughts ran though his mind as he absently poured a glass of wine, the level of the liquid rise quickly. When he finally notices, it is too late and the glass is nearly full- the amount her poured is enough for two servings.Vincent grimaces, setting down the bottle and replacing the stopper. Picking up the glass, Vincent contemplates if he should split the wine into two glasses but he quickly brushes the thought away. The poor woman needed this.
He makes his way back to her table without another clumsy incident, ignoring her companion’s boasting (did he ever stop talking?) and setting the glass in front of the woman. He manages to reign in another cheeky remark but Vincent cannot help but smirk at her before leaving without a word.
no urgency resided in her where it did the prying noses of those who claimed to possess only the best of intentions when snooping into her personal life. where others were on the fast track to the picket fence and the aging ceremonies, haeun was content in letting things run their natural course were they to present themselves. not closed off to the idea of a partner but drawn indifferent as to whether they appeared or not was her attitude towards romantic relationships but call it blasphemy in the eyes of the other middle aged adults she worked alongside. a child on the way at twenty-four was ideal for them but for haeun, she had yet to see the charm despite her fondness for infants.
why rush? a simple question resonating in her natural aura gone ignored by the talks of immediate plans and future wishes from the man across from her. he preached of desires of multiple sons and daughters while she praised the furry cuddliness of her kittens bodies when curling into bed at night. he longed for a wife to relax in their home while he slaved away for their family wages but her intentions of giving her career were nigh and nil. incompatibility burdened the air that not even a charming waiter speaking promises of a fine wine could suppress. the right partner would come in due time and, well, as for the rest she had been doing fine just on her own.
spoonfuls of her galbitang made it past her lips as efforts were made to include her in her date’s ramblings. questions about her future plans, her goals, her thoughts on family all avoided with passive-aggressive avoided eye contact and distant body language in an instant passed up as the sight of her now new favorite waiter traipsing back with a generously filled glass of wine with her name practically scrawled across it in the front from the bottle itself. she mouthed a grateful ‘thank you’ his way, her gaze catching his during the exchange but before her lips could meet the rim of her glass and her eyes could fixate upon the velvety surface of the wine, she was graced with another sight just as coy in the form of a passing smirk delivered her way.
a slight inkling quelled to the best of her ability in the face of the man before her yet still lingering in the forefront of her mind as she was graced with the heavenly, familiar taste of a fine red wine much to her delight. a comment made on the amount from her date loosened her lips that she had kept so fiercely shut in protest, hazel eyes flickering towards him as if protecting her cause. “i might’ve asked for the entire bottle if i thought this would last past the main course.” she mused shortly, the elephant in the room addressed without hesitation. her fingertips rested upon the base of the glass. “this isn’t working.” her urgency was clear in her voice but it was apologetic in the rejection. her initial intentions had been to see him throughout the rest of the evening but her patience withered with each passing second and she could stand not a moment longer. it was to be her paying for the meal after all. business ventures and hopeful dreams did not pay the bills after all. his protests lasted only several minutes with her insistence before the point was made clear and he moved to be on his way.
where the embarrassment of sitting alone should have settled in, she welcomed with open arms and toasted to with a healthy drink from her glass. she, at least, still had dessert on the way to look forward to.

chvyim:
– chayim wasn’t the one who would hang around the club without busily working. he wasn’t a boss that would enjoy sitting infroont of the desk and enjoying the money the club brought in. helping everywhere, to help his coworkers aswell. but this time, it was different.
the days hasn’t been good for him, so he was looking for some fun but the night was busy and they had missed a few coworkers. so he stood behind the bar and helped out. even when he was annoyed at the drunk slurs of demanding more drinks.
finally it quiet down at the bar and he was able to refill the bottles, looking up at the female who sat down, he recognized her, smiling at her and fixing her drink. “ you’re here today? ‘ he asked as he placed the yellow-orange-red colored cocktail infront of her, even adding a small paper umbrella inside. “ its been awhile since i last seen you “ he leaned ove, wearing a white button down shirt which had a few open to expose his chest tattoo and dark washed jeans, his hair slick back as he played with the small rings on his ear.
her purse was cast upon the bar to keep within her eyesight but with other insidious intentions of keeping her cash closest when the calling for another drink began to form her name and while she knew only a few staff members, the odd hours of her job often keeping her away for long periods of time, his face was among the select few.
the drink came first in her eyes. his question still rested on her ears along with his follow up observation as the sparkling glass was pressed to soft, matte rouge lips to indulge in her first sip of fruity heaven for the night. she was a woman who could enjoy a beer with a good baseball game but she would never turn her nose up at a good cocktail and damn did he make a good cocktail.
haeun contained the pleasured hum from the tasteful drink just barely, her hand briefly shielding her mouth as she licked her lips subtly for the lingering taste but the satisfaction rang through in the pleased furrow of her brows and slow nod of her head. her expression fixed, a hand now cradling the glass given to her, she met his eyes with a smile that was easy to formulate as he was the one who had just given her an amazing drink. “it’s been a while since i’ve been outside the OR.” she made light of the truth. it was a busy life she led but she never complained. lifting her glass once more, she dropped a playfully, coy quip just before she took another sip. “your favorite has returned, don’t worry.” it was all said in jest. she was not nearly that arrogant but she was that playful. “bored without me?”

One day Jisoo will enter operating room as equal to those upon his team. Experienced, mature not only in mind but skill set as well, a keen sense with scalpel, and full connection with patient. Jisoo wanted to become a good – no, a revered surgeon; it’d been his dream since he were a child. Ah, the steps getting there were exhausting. Long nights with seemingly no end. Hard-work put in day in and day out. Everything would have a point in the end and all of it wouldn’t feel so – meaningless now. Not that he’d ever found saving another’s live to be meaningless. During time when his father was at his weakest, having recovered from heart-attack, Jisoo had desired to gain further knowledge. Wanted to become someone useful. It was then dream had made it’s change from anesthesiologist to cardiatric surgeon. The path was longer, more tedious, but, he’d brave it. Jisoo knew of potential long hours a surgeon held, knew that at anytime he could be called out, even in middle of night if needed. Still none of this mattered when it came to saving anothers life or even attempting to do so. Even if vitality rate was lower than 5% he would still try his best to save whomever. Maybe it was his own selflessness that had resided in his bone since he were child that drove him toward goal, maybe even those hopes and dreams of others that rode upon his back. Jisoo didn’t know, didn’t care as long as he were able to push toward his dream without regret.
“So even you felt nervous before –” he wants to smack himself for sounding almost the slightest insensitive toward female’s words; almost cringing at way his tone had been presented. She was human just as much as himself, of course it was possible for nerves to over take her, Jisoo just had assumed that someone with such a calm head upon her shoulder wouldn’t waver in tiniest manner. He follows close to her, biting lower tier behind surgical mask in order to keep his mouth shut as she spoke – not wanting to say anything else and be viewed in ill manner. She was his senior in field after all, and as much as Jisoo desired to have friendlier relations with those in hospital, titles still mattered – no matter whom his father happened to be. Jisoo allows chuckle to freely escape, his gaze softening if fraction, “Ah, that’s what made me almost faint last time – I watched a surgeon do a valve replacement – blood shot across the room….he didn’t even bat a single lash when it got on him. I was so queasy that day I was made to sit in break room for a few hours – “ memory had been a traumatic one in past, but, looking back now he found it amusing. He’d acted rather childishly then. “Mm?” at inquiry he peeks over at nearest clock, “…another five to ten minutes, I just went ahead and got ready, they wanted me to help with OR prep.”
simultaneously a dream come true but a procrastinators nightmare, haeun had the capability to boast that she had fulfilled a childhood dream after many trials and tribulations through the iconic hard work and perseverance preached about so often. she lived the life of a surgeon albeit still within training in her residency but she was permitted for minor intrusive surgeries unassisted and nearly all other requirements of a cardiac surgeon that did not include open heart surgery or off pump surgery. the journey she had taken was decades long, reminiscing back to the young girl scarred from the car crash and the physician who had held her hand throughout the hardest time of her life, and it was not yet at it’s end but it was near enough. she slaved over medical journals for her cases and those she wished to take on in the future. she imposed herself upon seats to surgeries she had yet to experience to make the scary unknown into something she was used to seeing. a resident with a notable track record, haeun kept herself busy within her field as it was all she ever felt the passion or desire to do. it was only natural her hard work paid off. because of that, she was able to pass down words of wisdom to those who would soon be taking those leaps. those like jisoo.
she took no offense to his words. in fact, a breathy laugh escaped her in response as if to further highlight the empathy she felt for his nerves. she had most certainly been there before. it took multiple observations to make herself feel comfortable and to ease the shaking in her hands and the queasiness in her belly before she was allowed onto the surgical staff and that became a whole new set of nerves itself that she had to quell at risk of losing their patient. it was more a fight with oneself to maintain the levelheadedness desired within the OR but as most cases for people, you were always your own worst enemy. it was why she tried so hard for the newer interns and residents. if that confidence was instilled in them from their first stepping stones, she felt it might make their experience less stressful. stress was good in their field but unnecessary stress could end a life. his story amused her and she couldn’t hide it in her eyes, her gloves sought after to encase her hands within the rubber. “i’ve had that happen against my own set of scrubs before. it’s like something straight out of a horror movie.” that was the morbid sense of humor doctors took on when left with no choice but to find joy in a profession where death hung so heavy in the air. “so soon?” she questioned curiously. she excused herself several steps to check the schedule posted upon the wall and flashed him a smile seen only in her eyes from beneath the mask she wore, a gesture towards herself. “that’s me. aren’t you lucky? slapped with your most favorite sunbae and a pretty basic CABG to boot.”
