I thought of putting dialog at first đ€ but them though that is more fun not to, so people could imagine what could be happening in each one hehe ...So tell me in the comments if you have some guesses đ€
Thank you so much for all your support of the previous one!!
It is bad to say it myself but my favorite is the Time and Wind one hehe
đđđđđđđ â how i write time, my thoughts on him, and other headcanons and rambles :) this turned into lore i started making up for him halfway through RIP (1k words)
đđđđ â kinda angsty, a bit of dad-ness, not reader-insert for once
đđđđđđ'đ đđđđ â starting with the eldest :) our resident senior citizen. lemon, if you're there, i thought of you while writing this. i think of you whenever i write abt time lmao. part 1 of this ask
He's the leader. He's "old," wise, and usually calling the shots. But he doesn't know everything and relies on others to inform and advise him about the options available before making decisions and taking action. King and his advisors behavior lowkey. He's always doing what's best for the party, and is willing to sacrifice objectives and goals to ensure that everyone is alright. Not that the others aren't willing too, but he's one of the first to start thinking of backing out. Time has fate in everyone and their skills, but it doesn't stop him from being concerned and worried.
He's got a decent sense of humor and likes to prank once in a blue moon; you'll never catch him unless he wants to be. But he actually doesn't really initiate joking that much. He'll join in sure, share a laugh or two, but doesn't joke around himself. If he does, it's either the dad-est thing ever, or you don't even notice until someone else is laughing at you. Doesn't entertain jokes that might turn into some bullshit.
Now all this ^^ is how i usually portray him in the group setting, because that's the figurehead I feel the boys need; it's easier to write about a group when there's someone they're clearly following. And not that I have that much experience, but I don't think I have it in me to keep track of multiple characters who are all complex and explore how they'd play with each other in certain scenarios. Not without hella planning at least.
It's very established across canon and fanon that he's the oldest, and sometimes just plain old dad-like. I personally find it a little hard to drift from that, especially given his hero background. Sticking with the dad themes, if we're not writing about a good dad and/or concerned dad, it's usually "dad who's unaware of everything going on" or the dad in an accidental adoption trope who doesn't really want the child.
But if I did have it in me! I think it'd be cool to explore how his adventures and trauma affects him at this age (hc him to be 32). Ik some people have done it, but I haven't done much thinking myself.
He's a whole three decades old now. What other adventures has he been on now? How intense were they? When was the last one? What's the story behind how he got the armor? And most importantly, how does he approach the call of adventure now that heâs married and trying to be normal?
I think he's been on one more serious adventure after all that, and it happened during his 20s. Details on that later.
I don't know how people tend to make Time mentally, but I really don't think it's that much more than his physical age. Maybe like 33-35 MAX. I headcanon OoT to have taken maybe like two years to complete? One and a half? And I also don't think he became mentally mature when he woke up older; Time was just a 10 year old kid in a 17 year old body. So by the end of this adventure, that puts him at being around 12-13ish, but stuck physically at 10 years old.
Ok ngl, I don't know much about Majora's Mask outside of it being a continuous three-day time loop. I've been meaning to play the game and never got around to it.
I'm going to headcanon that the whole thing took him maybe eight to ten months. But here's the thing, Time thinks it was much longer than that. I love the hc that he's really good at telling time, and can usually tell you the time it is whenever (personally hc that he's accurate/states the time to the nearest 15 minutes; 4:36 -> 4:30, 5:54 -> 6:00, etc.).
But how long did it take him to acquire that skill? How long was he stuck in that time loop before he realized that keeping track of time was of the utmost importance? Just exactly how long did it take for him to subconsciously be able to tell when only a minute had passed?
Time thinks he was trapped in there for almost two years. As such, he believes himself to be mentally 37 years old.
Anywho, time (haha) skip to his next adventure (because that's how I hc he got his armor), I feel like the beginnings of it were quite a... thing for him. He's just proposed to Malon, and adventure is calling for him again.
Time almost turns it down, ignores it. But Malon is the one to push him because she knows that it would haunt him if he stood by and things went wrong.
And yuh, saves the world or something and acquires a sick set of armor.
The end of this adventure however, Malon gets tangled into the mess somehow. He resorts to using the Fierce Deity Mask trying to save her and the others, and that's how he obtains his markings and scar. Almost losing her changed something in him. He's not quite sure what, but he's later on aware that it's what makes him overly cautious (begrudgingly admitted) with the boys.
All of this has happened now, and Time does not want to be adventuring anymore. He's had a taste of normalcy, of a proper life, and he wants it, craves it.
But gods-dammit, he can't leave these boys to face this threat alone, not when this adventure is so obviously calling to him as well. And he's accepted it after the last adventure, that if the world calls, he'll answer. He won't be very happy, but he'll do it. It's an unescapable burden, being a hero.
So with that in mind, I think that brief bit of normalcy and time (haha) with Malon is what helped him mature in ways that the others haven't quite yet. It's what makes him a decent leader (and dad) for them.
Warriors has essentially mellowed out of his rambunctious teenage behaviors, and Twilight is also almost there too. But Time has achieved this maturity, and it's what makes them look up to him, what makes him a decent leader (and dad/role model) for them.
đđđđđđđ â how i write warriors, my thoughts on him, and other headcanons and rambles :) (1.9k words)
đđđđ â not reader-insert, war talk, slightly NSFW, talks of sexuality + sleeping around, mentions of PTSD but it's literally just mentions of the disorder itself
đđđđđđ'đ đđđđ â our captain! and my personal favorite of the boys. you can tell with how long it is. part 2 of this ask
Warriors is also a leader!! But mainly second in command amongst the group dynamics. He gets a little frustrated when his plans aren't accepted and/or adhered to. He genuinely wants to know why people are disagreeing with him. Is there a factor he hasn't considered or been made aware of? What are the advantages of the other approaches?
His military and fighting experience lowkey gives him a superiority complex(?). He knows how to work in a group; they do not (minus Four, but they don't really know that atm). Please listen to him.
As you can imagine though, this mentality doesn't always pass well with the others. But they can't deny, he acts this way for a reason. Warriors is one of those "I've got an ego and the skills/talent to back it up" people almost. It unfortunately falls through when nobody wants to listen to him. And then it pisses some people off because if things go wrong, they know it's because they didn't listen to him and He Was Right.
His top skill is Knowing How to Lead and Guide a Team, and it doesn't work if said team doesn't want to be entirely lead and guided. But put him back in the military setting with soldiers who follow him, and you'll see the captain in his natural state.
I personally think this thing about him is why he and Legend clash (not in a friendly banter way) sometimes. Legend is described to also be the leader type, but chooses not to be. So he sometimes has a bit of an "I could've done this better" attitude.
I saw (and agreed with) a post talking about how he has this tendency to ask people questions half-seriously, in a casual manner, but he's always expecting an actual answer. It was there with his Guidance Counselor Five-Year-Plan moment with Wild, and again sometime else the post pointed out, but I can't remember when RIP.
Anywho, Warriors is not a fan of people dodging his questions. Be as unserious as you want, as long as you give him a legit answer. He will definitely read into how you phrase your answers though. Lowkey analyzes people a lot.
The war did and didn't affect him in the ways you think. Honestly, I haven't played the game (I don't think many people have tbh), so I don't really know how the fighting was? But I feel that a lot of the war-related PTSD we see in literature these days is heavily influenced by guerrilla and modern warfare. And well, they don't have that. So I'm not really sure how to depict his war PTSD. I don't see too many time-period shows go into it either.
If we go the super super canon route, than it's literally just him being deployed into the battlefield and mowing down enemies in sword fight and whatnot. It's hard to go a super canon route though, because then that makes every other soldier on the damn battlefield the most incompetent person ever. Also, I think traitors/turncoats appear literally like once? in the game. And it's people being mind-controlled.
So no, I don't think he's going to get scared of fireworks (if they exist); they don't have bombs like that, and they certainly don't make the same explosion sounds.
He's used to being alert in the nights because of sudden attacks, but he probably slept more as he rose up in ranks and it became a duty for people of lower rank. Still alert though, and is able to equip everything in less than three minutes.
Seeing his comrades die has given him PTSD. Something he can never forget. I don't think Cia herself has given him much PTSD, because honestly I don't think the two of them directly interacted with each other that much. And the one time they did, I think she tried to kill him?Idk man, didn't play the game. Either way, HW canon isn't real so who cares.
Ok, let's put him in a casual setting now :)
Ooooh heâs a smug bastard. Like yes, of course he;s a gentleman. But he's also a smug bastard. Makes half-hearted jokes about the others; loves to banter (he never loses, only concedes); pokes about their personal life (he's nosy), and you can't get much out of him in return cause he's kinda boring outside of military life. It's just been his life for so long, and he's honestly not that interested in settling down and retiring.
Similar to Time, he's quick to shut down joking and banter in serious situations. The others are young and confident and think they can handle these situations with ease, and they probably can. Individually. They can't when a whole bunch of them think like that and are used to handling things individually. The Not Knowing How to Work in a Team weakness strikes.
Once a situation de-escalatesâgiven that there's no reason to lecture any of the othersâhe's fine with resuming jokes and stuff; his typical demeanor returns pretty quick.
He's a little touchy with others his age, and also on the younger ones like Wind. Likes to give a smack on the shoulder, ruffle hair, and has slapped Twilight's booty before. Warriors treats Time like the younger ones when it comes to physical affection, cause yeah he's old, but he's also still Mask to him.
He's given Time a noogie before. It didn't end well because the old man put him in a headlock and returned it tenfold. Time is unfortunately much stronger than him now, and he couldn't get out of his grasp, and now his hair is really messed up too.
One of his best/worst traits is that he has a very cute sneeze. It was all over for him the first time it happened in front of the others. More than once, someone has silenced him in playful banter by imitating his sneeze. This is the only way to make him "lose" an argument, so long as he doesn't have leverage against you as well.
To add on to this, I saw a post of somebody saying that when Twilight sneezes, it's a straight-up yell. A howl almost. So put the two of them side-by-side, and it's hilarious. I love it so much.
Warriors knows how to flirt, but he rarely does it cause he's lowkey kinda scared of women and commitment. With how smooth he is with his comebacks and jabs, you'd think he'd have all the ladies over him. And that's honestly like his worst nightmare if he's going out for drinks. It'd be funny to think that some of his supposed "women troubles" comes from him accidentally joking/bantering with them in a way that's typical with other boys, but not women lol.
Also, I headcanon him to be bisexual, but I mention women here ^ because I just don't think he'd really flirt with men that much when he's going out. This is mainly because I'm subconsciously leaning towards a heteronormative society, and I'm just unsure of how dynamics would work if like, everyone was bi.
Make everyone accepting? Sure, easy. Being gay might not be common, but it's whatever; you do you. Make queerness common and whatnot? Great in theory, but I have no idea how that would work/look like.
When it comes to men, Warriors first tries to get the vibe that they might also be into men before trying to make a move. He's not afraid of shooting his shot in general, and it doesn't matter that much either if it's a man. Because either he'll be interested too or it can be interpreted as just bro's talking to each other (in a pretty accepting society). Not too much to lose.
One of his number one fears/reasons for being a bit scared of commitment, is that he doesn't really want to change his life for someone else. Yeah yeah, he's heard that spiel about how there's a lot you'd do for the person you love. But well guess what, he hasn't met anyone like that. I feel like a modern response to that could also be, why couldn't his S/O be like that for him, but given the time period and his status in the military, I think it'd be really hard for someone to do that for him.
Side ramble, I can lowkey see him in his older age, being one of those highly regarded military generals who secretly has a sugar baby. Low commitment, no need to deal with kids and settle, and all the other benefits and things. And I refuse to believe this man won't age well with how well he takes care of his appearance. maybe i should explore this on @pennysrentfee hehe
The only reason Warriors wants kids is because of the sailor. But seeing everyone else's kids, and also lowkey dealing with Mask during the war, has made him also not want kids. They're great from a distance, but not too up-close. And one of the reasons he likes Wind so much is because of Wind's big brother behavior towards him that Warriors is not aware of. "I am a menace, but also acting like little brother because you clearly need it. And that itself is big brother behavior."
There's a lot of stuff around his sexuality, and I honestly never keep it consistent in my thoughts AND writing. Yes, I do see and understand the aroace take on him. But I also have written so much smut about him, and so much more to come.
Going off of his women issues, I'd just say that he's pretty non-committal, but he's open to the general idea of being in a relationship; it'd just be pretty hard to get there given his circumstances.
Warriors is fine being single forever, and doesn't feel the need to get into a relationship. He might want it in general every now and then; the idea of having a special someone is really really nice. But that doesn't mean he's going to go actively seek it out. And it also doesn't make him aromantic; maybe somewhere on the aro-spec, but not entirely aromantic if we really want to get into labels.
I also wouldn't say he's entirely asexual either. He's gotten around, and cause he's in the military, I wouldn't be surprised if he's had more male than female partners. All of his hook-ups have been casual, and he dips when people start wanting to make things more serious and expecting more out of him. Tends to just get horny sometimes, and is looking for a release if he can. But he is a man capable of thought and controlling his actions, so it's not like he's going to go all out of his way to handle it.
If we want to get more time-period accurate, then I'd say it would be a looot more men than women for partners. And it's not only because of the military thing again, but also because there aren't many women to sleep around with. The majority of the "available" women are in the brothels and whorehouses, and he is not going there. It's not a reputation concern or anything; he just thinks there's a 99% chance he's going to catch some terrible disease.
Yeah, I think that's about it. I rambled a lot cause he's my fav :P
And I also like to write fics and jot down fic ideas about him.
Lilithâs general idea and concept has been in my head since I first started reading Linked Universe (which actually started before I ever got tumblr and read the series through Pinterest).
She has actually gone through several different looks and phases. Her personality and appearance changed every story rewrite, and in some rewrites, she didnât even have a brother or mom. I did know that her father would be a main story point, but I always flipped between him haunting her through memory or him being an active role in the story (which means he was alive). In one iteration, Link was actually her older brother who was a knight, disabled due to a war injury in his leg. In another Link was dead.
So yeah, Iâve put her through the wringer a couple times :â)
My final version of this hero solidified when Noah Kahanâs new album dropped and I listened to orbiter. It made me change her story to have her mom be involved in the story, acting as her moral compass and a metaphorical foil. She looks nearly identical to her mother, but she acts like her father. Link serves as her âgirl worth fighting forâ, because she made a promise to her father to protect him, and she views him as the thing she revolves around.
Lilith draws inspiration from a couple of sources, not necessarily for her appearance, but personality. She was originally inspired by Ahsoka from Star Wars, and eventually I drew inspiration from Neytiri from Avatar (blue people), Astrid from HTTYD, Vex from TLOVM, and a couple other sources.
All in all, I wanted her to be independent and something of a grump, believing herself to be too different from who she shouldâve been, and unable to get past certain experiences. She is an imperfect hero, and she holds it against herself. She is fierce and loyal, and this causes her to throw herself into fights recklessly when the people she cares about are involved. She has a couple different qualities that do contradict each other, and her journeys have defined certain qualities that arenât always positive.
Sylphwings actually werenât in the original version of this story. Lilith had a blue roan horse named Dusty, who then became the first idea for a Sylphwing, who then became our beloved Epona, who then went back to Tora the Sylphwing.
Sylphwings are based off of Ikrans from Avatar (the blue people one) and dragons, and loftwings. As for what they are, who knows.
Story description:
Sylphwings: the colorful apex predators of the Hithlaerian mountains, these beasts are believed by scholars to be the direct descendants of the loftwings of Skyloft, much like how their riders are closely tied to the floating islands. These beasts are vicious, the only known animal to prey on monsters of any size. Aeshyraâs safety is mostly due to these beasts, their ferocity keeping the skies above safe. Sylphwings bind with only one hylian the entirety of their lives, believing to choose the person that matches their spirit and soul. Aeshyrans often believe them to be their other halves. Claiming a Sylphwing often happens after turning 12, though there are a few exceptions.
Noteworthy sylphwings:
Tora: Known as the Emerald She-Demon, this beast is the infamous mount of the eldest daughter of the Wind-Speaker. Tora bonded with Lilith during the girlâs Wing Ceremony, but only after flinging the two off Draconis Island during their fight, where Tora had ripped a chunk of flesh out of Lilithâs left shoulder. The sylphwing is loyally fierce, and willing to go toe-to-toe with monsters and predators much larger than she is. She is still considered a juvenile, as sylphwings reach full maturity at 20 years old. Tora will not let anyone but Lilith ride her, even if Lilith is the one steering. When they Eye of Ganon captured the sylphwings, Tora was responsible for the killing of numerous cultists who attempted to ride her. Tora will willingly look for fights, and can be seen trying to fight and wrestle with her rider at any given moment.
Talu: Regarded as the Crimson Fury, this sylphwing is larger than most of its kin, and ten times as ferocious. It is known to chase after its own kind looking for fights, and is notorious for killing Torathorns, both for food and for sport. Claimed by Lance de Chevallier, the two were bonded for twenty years, and Talu has been rarely seen since Lanceâs death. The crimson sylphwing helped defend Aeshyra during the Great Disaster, helping to chase down and kill the Gleeok responsible. Talu was one of the two sylphwings not captured by the Eye of Ganon. Tora tried to fight Talu once.
Mistdancer: The partner of Wind-Speaker Rhea, this sylphwing possesses a gentle nature, and is the perfect partner for the dutiful chieftain of Aeshyra. Mistdancer, although old and not quite as fast as she used to be, is still fierce in battle, and has a unique horn shape resembling an ivory crown. Rhea is said to be the only Hylian who claimed her sylphwing by simply walking up to it. Mistdancer was known to carry Lilith around like a hatchling when she was a baby.
I had written this on AO3 originally before moving the info over here, so itâs kinda formatted weird. Mb yâall.
Lilith actually went on TWO adventures, one was slaying Ganon and fixing the rifts that had opened between their world and the corrupted Sacred Realm, along with her purifying it. This gives her the title of âHero of the Veilâ I considered giving her the âHero of the Sacred Realmâ title, but I think one of the boys already has that title (I could be wrong).
her second adventure was her going against a cursed deity named Wolfram, who had cursed the entirety of Hyrule into darkness and undeath (important to know for later). A decent portion of Lilithâs character comes from what happens in this adventure, which solidified a lot of the more negative traits she has. Though, a lot of her problems and more rough edges come from her first adventure too, especially the trauma she receives (which will come back to bite her in the ass).
As for how her stamina wheel would work, sheâd have pretty good stamina. In the first game, youâd get stamina bonuses by completing certain cult raids or optional tombs (which there would be plenty of) but starting off sheâd have pretty high endurance and stamina considering she literally has to climb everywhere in Aeshyra and the rainforest. The second game youâd get them from returning poes to bargaining statues. 100 poes for a stamina increase.
Heart containers work like any Zelda game. Complete a temple to get a full one and you can find parts of one in optional tombs or as a reward for cult raids. This would work for both games consider the raids would be an ongoing thing bc Wolfram would have a cult following/followers.
However, thereâd be a mechanic like in BOTW and I think TOTK, bc the demon statue is in both games, where you can trade stamina wheels and heart containers by talking to this weird spirit you find, who may be a god of death? Same dude gives you a broken Stargazer in the second game whether you do this or not. Bc Lilith will do something with it no matter what ;) (I have angst lined up for this fact)
However, trading out heart containers lowers your constitution like any Zelda game, and one thing Lilith does affects it permanently for the rest of the game and until a certain point in the second game.
Wolfram, Death Knight of the Forbidden Realm: A cursed deity, Wolfram was once a mortal man. In an era long before the Hero of the Veil, Wolfram partook in a war, becoming the champion of a god long forgotten. Legend has it that Wolfram broke his oath, and was cast into the forbidden realm of shadow as punishment. He raised an army of vengeful souls who met a fate much like his own, and after Ganon had weakened the barriers between Hyrule and the surrounding planes of existence, Wolfram unleashed the forbidden realmâs darkness across Hyrule, converting it into a land of decay and undeath, cursing those who it touched to be forever bound to Wolfram. He was defeated by the Hero of the Veil, the Master Sword freeing the souls corrupted by him.
Eye of Ganon: Ganonâs cult who had successfully ripped open the Sacred realm where Ganon was bound, these cultists have no good intentions. Corrupted knights and greedy hylians alike, they burned villages, kidnapped Princess Zelda, and forcefully bonded with claimed sylphwings, using arcane devices to do so. Dismantled by Lilith and her raiders, the eye of Ganon disappeared. Once Wolfram rose, the remaining cultists joined the Death Knight, capturing the Hero of the Veil in an attempt to prevent the goddesses from interfering with Wolframâs plans. (I think this may also be the name of the cult that Hyrule deals with, but Iâm unsure. Itâs definitely what I drew inspiration from though.)
Wolframâs Curse: Prevents healing spells and corrupts the soul and body of the victim, preventing the soul from moving onto the afterlife and binding it to Wolfram. Souls are corrupted and lose any memory and personality they had before death, becoming something they are not. It is a fate worse than death. It still taints part of Hyrule, and it is best not to touch anything dead in these areas. When killed by Stargazer or the Master Sword, these undead beings will drop a poe, which contains a memory of the person it once was. Returning these poes to a bargaining statue will ensure the souls will make it to the other side.
Warriors:Â Hey, Time, have you thought about having children?
Time:Â ...
Time:Â Does looking over you and the others not seem like I already do? Because I promise you, it sure feels like it.
Warriors:Â But we're not childr-
Time, already distracted:Â WILD, PUT THE FIRE DOWN!
