a mixture of feelings; that’s how zorii would describe seeing poe again. it had been way too long. she wanted to hug him, kiss him, punch him and kill him all at the same time. just hearing his voice again was almost enough to make her dark eyes blue. and that cocky fucking grin. oh, she wanted to slap him silly right now.
and that’s exactly what she did.
after he finishes talking, she takes her hand and delivers a hard SLAP, one that was very audible and loud. “ how. could. YOU!” her voice erupts, blinking as tears finally falling down her pale cheeks. “ you left without a word, and then on top of that? you were just spying on us! ME! My CREW!” zorii steps away from him, pacing back and forth as she tried to process her thoughts.
“i had almost everyone quit after i announced what happened because they were afraid of getting arrested. For damn near six months, i ran it ALL on my own. and i was almost killed on several occasions as well. because i only had one other person with me, and he dipped after two months.”
zorii takes a deep breath, composing herself after losing it. “ so to answer your question? no. i am NOT happy to see you. what the fuck do you want from me now? come back to spy again? maybe break my heart into a million tiny pieces also?” @resistcre
It was well deserved, even if it stung. Had their situations been swapped, he would have felt betrayed, too. And there were no excuses for what he had done, he knew that well enough. A much younger Poe would have argued, would have tried to defend his name, but the Poe now was knowledgeable enough to know better. Zorii was hurt and she had every right to be, regardless of the amount of time that had passed, and he wasn’t going to take that from her.
“I understand your anger,” he murmured, rubbing his burning cheek with a hand. She sure had smacked his grin right off his face. A bold grin, no doubt, and ill-timed. “No, I’m not here to spy. I’m looking for someone. None of your people.”
He had tossed the idea of locating her back and forth in his brain whilst on board his loaned ship. An argument fueled by years of repressed emotions. In the end, Poe had determined that she would have even more cause to be furious with him if he had been in the area but hadn’t the courage to show himself. Hidden or not, someone would have been bound to recognize him, and then what? Word would spread. Poe Dameron was in the area and didn’t think to say a damn thing to anyone. The nerve.
“I wouldn’t expect you to know this, but I ensured that you and the crew were safe after I left. The suppliers, no. The competition, no. But you? I wasn’t going to let you all rot on a prison ship if I could help it.”
