– UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Tuesday’s International Day of UN Peacekeepers. He is in Mali to pay tribute to peacekeepers who have fallen while serving under the UN flag and the 100,000+ military, police & civilians from 125 countries currently serving for peace in 14 UN Peacekeeping operations.

The Secretary-General also awarded medals to UN Peacekeepers from Bangladesh & Nigeria with MINUSMA, the UN Mission in Mali.

This 29 May we are also celebrating the 70th anniversary of UN peacekeeping. Since 1948, 1+ million men & women have served under the blue flag in 71 missions.
