Agnes Hope was born in India and had British parents. She travelled extensively and lived at various times in Zennor and Paul in West Cornwall, in Paris and Angiers in France as well as London and Ashstead, Surrey in Britain. She studied at the Forbes School and at NAG in 1903, but moved to France where she was to spend much of her time. Hope painted landscapes, still-lives and harbour scenes in a delicate pointillist technique that was influenced by the work of Seurat and Signac. Her work was shown at the Salon des Indépendants from 1905 onwards.
