Savor the smooth and creamy Italian hot chocolate that's ready in five minutes or less. On a cold day, this recipe will provide you with a rich and fulfilling chocolate experience that will cheer you up.
Ingredients: 2 cups whole milk. 100g high-quality dark chocolate, chopped. 2 tablespoons granulated sugar. 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder. 1 tablespoon cornstarch. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. Whipped cream and chocolate shavings for garnish optional.
Instructions: To make a paste, combine the cocoa powder, cornstarch, and a couple of tablespoons of milk in a small bowl and whisk until smooth. Put the granulated sugar and the remaining milk in a saucepan. Stirring continuously, heat the milk over medium heat until it begins to steam but does not boil. When the chocolate has melted completely and the mixture is smooth and creamy, add the chopped dark chocolate to the milk mixture and stir. After whisking in the cocoa powder paste, cook the hot chocolate for another two to three minutes, stirring continuously, until it thickens to your preferred consistency. After taking the saucepan off of the burner, mix in the vanilla extract and salt. Transfer the heated chocolate into cups and, if preferred, top with chocolate shavings and whipped cream.
