The Corpse Groom | Undead!Levi x Reader AU! Part 8
Parte 8
Le marié cadavre
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- The beautiful solid blue of the sky, outstretched, never ending. This was what you were thinking in the back of your mind, whilst being guided by none other than, your supposed fiance, Eren. Rays of sunlight reflected off of the strands in his hair, causing the deep brown to have a sleek red sheen. Your eyes trailed down his covered arm, to the place where he had linked the two of your hands together. It was then you realized he was undeniably warm; his grip firm yet gentle. Your next study was his legs, cloaked in perfectly ironed trousers. The bending of his legs, the sound of the soles of his feet pushing the grass out of the way. The sound of him inhaling broke your focus, causing you to tense up a bit and squeeze onto his hand. He turned around, facing you with a gorgeous smile, “Shall we sit, milady?” he said, almost mockingly, a hint of refrained laughter in his tone. You only nodded, taking in the many teal, blue, and green hues swirled together in his eyes. With a chuckle, he kneeled down to sit cross-legged, pulling you down as well. You fell onto your knees with a yelp, other hand reaching to hold onto his shoulder. You opened your eyes from a wince, only to see just how close you were. His expression was calm yet a serious aura was about him. You expected that, since a soldier never fell out of his habits. You couldn’t help but feel that if you were to become involved with him in the future, there would always be a wall or boundary hiding and restricting his emotions. He began to reach up, and just as you could feel the warmth radiating from the palm of his hand, a harsh gust of wind blew from the depths between the trees; almost as if it was a terrifying warning. You leaned back from him, only to nuzzle into his side, waiting for the leaves that had fallen from the trees to subside their battle against each other, yet it just wouldn’t stop. Eren looked down at you with a worried expression when you began trembling in fear; his eyes hardened as his instinct to protect kicked into action, he turned over, putting a hand at the back of your neck, pushing your face to his collarbone before holding you close, and lifting you up with his other arm at the bend of your knees. He jogged towards the house, the wind only becoming stronger. You wrap your arms around his neck and peeked over his shoulder, noticing an angered Levi with his fist planted firmly against the tree beside him, “Mine…” he shouted inside of your head, causing you to look away and allow yourself to be taken further and further away from him. When you awoke, you were startled to even know that you had been asleep. You looked around frantically, only to be surrounded by the comfort of your own room, and the form of the gentle boy sitting in your window seat, leering at the sight of what was outside. He seemed to be very troubled, but all you could do was study the curve of his brow, and his majestic essence. It was hard to believe someone so beautiful could look so torn and tattered, that someone so young could change into something so frightening. You hadn’t even been conscious of the smile that had spread nicely on your face. He turned his attention towards you, with this your happiness faded, as he twiddled the small mysterious ring in his fingers. “Where did you get this?” His voice was accusing and serious, no sign of the gentle boy you had only wished you’d kissed earlier. He stood, walking to tower over you as you cowered under your covers, “I-It is mine.” “No it’s not,” he fired almost immediately, “This was the wedding ring of a deceased comrade of mine. I know this, because there is no other like it.” Now it was your turn to wear a scowl on your face, your cheeks becoming red slightly in anger, “That fallen comrade of yours, is obviously my ancestor, it only seems right to own something of your family’s, doesn’t it?” “You were carelessly wearing it on your marital finger as if you were already married, not only that, but I know as a matter of fact that Levi Ackerman who was betrothed to the woman this was to belong to, had this in his possession before the tragedy took place.” He dragged a wooden chair across the floor, causing an eerie screech to echo in the room, “Now, I will ask you again, where did you get this?” All of a sudden it clicked, he was suspicious of you. Remembering what Christa had told you, about no one knowing what had happened to Levi. And now you had one of the things that belonged to said man, while one of his subordinates sat at your bedside, an angry titan-shifter at that. “You wouldn’t believe me,” you stated, confidence and slight rage in your voice as you crossed your arms in defiance, “Enlighten me,” he said stubbornly in a way that irritated you even more… why did it have to become like this between the two of you? “Fine then. He gave it to me.” “He? By whom do you mean, ‘he’?” He leaned in, anticipation apparent, “Levi.” He sat there for a good few seconds before scoffing at you and sitting back in his chair, massaging his temple with the sides of his fingers, letting out a chuckle, “Levi? As in the Levi that is dead? As in my upperclassman?” His laughter only escalated, yet it stopped completely when you leaped out of bed and snatched the piece of jewellry from him, bolting out the door. It wasn’t until you go to the top of the stairs that you heard his rushed footsteps bound after you. The front door blew open, dangerously smacking against the wall; your coat and scarf swooped off of their hanging places in time for you to catch them and quickly jump over the front steps. The iron gate unlatched and opened for you, slamming shut in attempt to slow your pursuer down, but he just leapt over it and continued to chase after you. You felt tears well up in the corners of your eyes, knowing that you would surely be caught by this agile soldier. But your thoughts were quickly proven wrong, when you heard another puff of wind coming towards you, but avoiding your form, and pushing against Eren. You kept going with your newfound hope, and directly into the odd comfort of the last place on earth you’d have found refuge in.
