At the risk of sounding anti-intellectual, I think that college should be free and also not a requirement for employment outside of highly specialized career fields
At the risk of sounding like an effete intellectual, I do actually think you should be allowed to just take college courses indefinitely
technically you can, if you don't care about degrees.

For paid, there's The Great Courses+/Wonderium. 20$ a month for unlimited courses.
When searching, the phrases you're looking for are Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), or you can do a general search of say, "free online college courses." Oh, and so you don't get surprised like I did, have an avoid: Hillsdale College is a conservative Christian site and not a valid MOOC place. Sign up with them and you will get things like THIS IS WHY THE LEFT IS TURNING YOUR KIDS TRANS AND GAY in your inbox.

I'm actually surprised at the lack of Miles Morales in the DC universe fics. Like the material is literally right there, hello?
My favourite thing about Get In The Water is how Poseidon waits until Odysseus says, "I'll be there today" to pop up. It's deadass a "that's what you think" moment.
Rewatching Steven universe and in season 1 episode 43 when Steven brings Amethyst to help clean out Greg's storage locker and he says, "I don't know about this," Amethyst replies, "Hey man, it's cool, I've seen your junk before." And Greg makes THIS face, oh my god
i cannot hate myself into a version of me i will love.
i cannot punish myself in any way that will unmake the past.
Odysseus: Maybe you could learn to forgive
Naruto: Maybe you can listen to my sad backstory and change your ways
Odysseus: Oh no forgiveness? Okay, stabbing time.
Naruto: No changing? RASENGAN!
Odysseus: I would trade the world to see my son and wife.
Naruto: Sasuke.
Odysseus saying "we're both hurting from loss" makes me giggle because he's looking at Poseidon from the perspective of a loving father. Like if he got home and found out someone had blinded Telemachus, he would actually tear the culprit limb from limb.
It's almost like he can't hear the words coming out of Poseidon's mouth. That guy does NOT care about the son, he cares about his reputation and how it'll look if he lets Ody go
I realized something recently. When Polyphemus said, "You will be the final man to die," I always thought it meant he was still going to kill Odysseus, but after that he would somehow turn a new leaf.
Come to find out it meant he was going to kill the entire crew and save Odysseus for last. That bitch.
Hera wanted Athena to win
Guys hear me out, this is my conspiracy theory LMAO
I feel like in God Games when Athena is battling the Gods to help Ody, of all of them, Hera wanted her to win the whole time.
Hera is the final "level" of the game, and if Athena convinces her to say yes, then it's a yes and Ody must be released, and I'm sure Hera knew that fact.
Now look at what all the other Gods say.
Each of them gives a very specific reason why they don't want Ody to be freed.
Apollo's reason is slaughtering the sirens.
Hephaestus' reason is the Scylla sacrifice.
Aphrodite's reason is abandoning his mother.
Ares' reason is being cowardly in the Trojan war.
And then, we get to Hera, and she's just like 'Yeah just give me any good reason and I'll agree to let him go'. She has no qualms with Odysseus, she has no motivation even to fight with Athena on this. She doesn't really require convincing, per se.
She's legitimately just asking Athena to give her any half decent justification so she can say yes and make it look legit in front of Zeus.
The whole time as Athena is giving Hera reasons, Hera is also continuously egging her on to give her a better one, a more sound one that would look really convincing. She's saying things like 'Try Harder' and 'You can do better than that.'
So my theory is that after Zeus announced the God Games, Hera saw it as a chance to stick it to him for once, for all his cheating and disloyalty to their marriage, so she wanted Athena to win, and played her cards accordingly.
All she needed was Athena to give her any half-decent justification for her to say yes, so that the games look legitimate, but ultimately she was on her side the whole time. She made the game really easy for Athena, because she gave her free reign to think of absolutely anything and everything she possibly could in favor of Ody, instead of giving her a specific, niche argument she has to fight against.
Additionally, Hera is the goddess of marriage in the pantheon, and even if she doesn't care the least little bit about Odysseus, I am willing to bet she very much cares about Penelope.
Think about it, Hera herself is stuck in an awful marriage to Zeus and is not very happy about that. And she would 100% relate to Penelope's struggles of being alone, missing her husband and trying to ward off the suitors who are trying to force her into a, let's be real, abusive marriage with Antinous.
Hera as a wife definitely sympathizes with Penelope as a wife, and releasing Odysseus so he can return to Penelope is the only way to help her be protected again.
So there you go. My conspiracy is that Hera for one absolutely wanted Athena to win the entire time. I think she at the very least tried to help her, I mean she couldn't have known that Zeus would fucking kill her for winning LMAO
I found the transformation scene song from S1 E5 of Wolfblood! God i was obsessed with that particular part for so long but i only had a yt video with the howls and show sounds overlaying.
curious abt ur interpretation, but why do u think zeus turned on athena so suddenly after she completed the games?? a lot of people say it’s just because he’s a sore loser, but i think there’s more to it!! :0
hi, hello !! i do have some feelings about this !!
for me, i think it’s sort of, like, less about the fact that she won, and more what she stood for in winning? so, like, the fact that she managed to convince five other gods to set free a mortal man, the fact that she won for the sake of a mortal man - that’s what zeus can’t reason with
so, zeus does say:
No one beats me, no one wins my game!
which gives the impression that he is, just, a sore loser. that he cannot handle being beat. and, okay, i think there is like some truth to that. he is the god king, he does not lose at things. i think he expected that this would be a lot harder for her, that the other gods would care a lot more than they probably do. it’s the shock more than anything, then, that gets him. he didn’t expect to lose
but, also, before this line he says:
You dare to defy me? To make me feel shame?
and i think this part is important to consider. let’s look at it line by line. he use the word “defy”, which seems odd, because athena did exactly what he laid out for her to do. but i think in this case it’s more, that she’s defying him by aligning herself with a mortal. it really doesn’t help that the specific man in question is one that zeus himself punished personally. in his eyes, odysseus is weak and pathetic, he isn’t worth the mercy of the gods. athena had abandoned him at one point, and i think that shows her father’s will being reflected in her. if she - someone who has befriended odysseus, taken him under her win - was willing to turn her back on him, then the likes of zeus would have no sympathy for such a man, and thus it is a defiance that athena would suddenly turn back to helping him
she defies his will by getting this far in the game for the sake of odysseus. actually, i think zeus had hoped the game would change her mind, show her the “godly” perspective. the fact she still holds her ground after it, then, is defiance
okay, and then zeus talks of “shame”, athena making him “feel shame”. again, this ties a lot back into what we just covered - zeus is ashamed that his own daughter would fight this hard for a mortal whom he hates. that she would face five gods who try to sway her opinion and still come out standing by odysseus. athena is zeus’ favourite daughter, after all. he would surely then expect that she would always align herself with him or his morals, so to see her stand before him after playing his games, games designed to force her hand, and for her still want his help - that is a cause for great shame for the father
now, looking at the wider context of the musical, we see that zeus is “fair” (at least by his own standards). he gives odysseus two choices across the course of the musical, in regards to the baby and in regards to his men. in both cases, he doesn’t force odysseus either way to choose, and when he does make his choice, zeus doesn’t interfere any further. at the start of god games, he gave athena a choice. to face the other gods OR face him. by his own standard set before, when athena chooses to face the gods and wins, zeus should stand by that. it is fair.
but he doesn’t. and for me that’s what shows that this is so much more than just a sore loser. this is a god who is going against his agenda in order to punish his daughter - that’s something that runs a lot deeper than “aw, i lost”. he didn’t expect athena to win, no, but that’s because he always expected her to come back to her senses (his reason) before the game was up. she didn’t. that is a great defiance of his will, and that is a great shame on him as her father
zeus is all about pride, we see that most clearly in thunder bringer. his daughter - his favourite, perfect daughter - has essentially just embarrassed him in front of all these other gods by beating his game for the sake of someone he has previously sought to punish. she has, in front of all these other gods, shown that his faith in her was misplaced, because she is willing to defy his will. this is a god king who could not bring someone around to see his reason. this is a father who has realised in that moment that his daughter is not who he thought
so, okay, yeah, this is very long and ramble-ly (i just woke up, so i do apologise) but TLDR, it’s about pride and shame and zeus’ sheer fury that the game he designed for athena to lose - or to, at least, bring her back to his reason - did not work. she still stands against him for the sake of one, mortal man, and that is a defiance he cannot have
Telemachus not being able to fight makes sense but is also super sad. Like Eurylochus or Polites or even his father, anyone who could have trained him is gone and has been since he was born. The only people left are the ones eyeing his father's throne, of course they wouldn't equip him with the skills to possibly challenge them.
Antinuous was really on some shit though. How do you tell Telemachus to open his mother's door so you can "have fun" with her. Hello?!
Apollo and Hephaestus' parts did seem quite flat with how quickly they agreed, but consider:
Zeus: If you can convince them-
Athena: Who's them?
Zeus: *oh fuck oh fuck, who is them? Uhhh* Apollo! Hephaestus! Aphrodite! Ares! Hera! *Phew, quick save*
All the selected gods:
Hephaestus: I don't even know this guy?
Hera: Quick, let's come up with something and make it look like we don't want him to be free even though we don't know or care about him!
(I mean, she was literally doing a groovy number there. Girl did not give a shit.)
And I'm pretty sure Apollo was on Odysseus's side from the start ( the only people who have called him Ody have loved him) , he just had to pretend for a bit.
