idk if this was answered but what's your policy on foreigners? (or people who have lived/been raised in Japan)

This was answered in our FAQ actually! Copying and pasting it from there:

Q. Can I apply a foreigner?

Yes. However, you’ll have to keep in mind that HPA is a Japanese high school and one of its rules for admission is that a student must be attending a Japanese high school beforehand. As a result, you’ll have to both explain that as well as explain why HPA would choose your character over a native teenager for that roster slot. We won’t be accepting many of these if any at all.

The backstory field in the application also mentions this! Copying and pasting the following excerpt from there:

Please remember that in order to be admitted into Hope’s Peak Academy, a student must a) attend a Japanese high school and b) be super talented in their field. Anything else goes. We will not be accepting more than two foreigners (half/mixed students won’t count under this restriction) if any, and if you are applying one, please keep in mind to explain to us why Hope’s Peak Academy would choose them over a native student.

If you’re asking about specifically a foreigner who grew up and was raised in HPA, them living there for the majority of their life is a valid explanation, yes.

I'm kinda curious but how many individual muns have applied compared to the total number of apps?

I may have counted wrong, but a quick count over the list pegs us at 50 individual muns at the moment..? However, we have quite a few more people who asked for extensions, so that number is apt to jump up.

it’s been brought to my attention that some applicants are under the false belief that this announcement meant that all applications were now being due later.

to clarify in bold, the due date for applications is still at 11:59PM EST on july 7th. the only exceptions to this are if you asked for an extension which we’ll be giving on a case-by-case basis. if you need more time for your application beyond the end of the 7th, you need to request an extension.
