The cats always smell our clothes a lot when we’ve been outside. They’re reading their newspaper.
All hail King Nigel, ruler of Gondoland, eater of dramatic one-liners, and victim of rogue computers. Long may he reign!
it would be so awesome
it would be so cool
hate how step trackers try to tell me how many calories im burning like im not HERE for that!!! im going on walks to gain enough leg strength to kick my enemies to death!! stop telling me about my calories!!!
who did this to me
learning languages is fun because in some areas youll be like "oh wow theres one word for this thing thats covered by 20 different words in english? thats so easy and convinient!" and then in other areas you'll be like "what the fuck do you mean you use different numbers depending on what kind of object youre counting. im going to kill myself."
I started playing the German version of Trio of Towns to get more practice (and play the game again because I've been missing it but couldn't drag myself through all the opening cutscenes in English again so it was like "okay let's change the language and add some novelty back into the experience") and I'm delighted to report that I'm managing it pretty okay actually
Like I still have to look up some words here or there, but the grammar's not tripping me up at all, and other than the words I've never seen before or that I'm not super confident with yet, I'm not having to actively translate out what's going on line-by-line to understand what's going on, it's more like reading English at this rate (as opposed to Japanese where I still have to actively look up and write out what's going on in English to have a clue, which is fine for translating but not super functional to just use)
And that's especially amazing considering when I started getting more serious about learning German, I had tried to do the same thing with Sandrock and was left in the first conversation with Yan and Mason and all for like two hours, crying and lost and overwhelmed and questioning everything before I kinda just gave up, and that's WITH being able to pull on my knowledge of how exactly that conversation goes in English to help me figure out what means what. And now I can just...read shit, for the most part
I still need to try to tackle Inkheart again, and it's intimidating because I'm not as comfortable with literary German, but the fact that I'm not comfortable with it is also exactly why I need to practice more with it, so yanno
And uh
Just don't me about how my listening and speaking is going because I don't wanna talk about it :)))))
this is very specific to me as an individual but the easiest way I've found of figuring out how much of an ass a doctor is going to be is just to watch their reaction when they take my vitals. how surprised are they by a fat dude having like, textbook-perfect blood pressure, heart rate, and blood oxygenation? if they make a big deal of the numbers being good or look at the sphygmomanometer like it needs maintenance I steel myself for 15 minutes of bullshit. if they just say something blandly positive and move on, I let my guard down by 17½ percent.
dyed my hair and got filled with such "everybody needs to see this" energy that i immediately went grocery shopping. maybe this is the real way to motivate going outside more...
bought lunchables today and had two seperate people comment "wow i havent had those in years!" which is kinda funny like. guys theyre in stores. you can buy whenever. your grown adult money can purchase more lunchables than you can ever fathom. nothing shall stop you.
i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
