i don't really like it when western mythological terms are applied haphazardly to essentially unrelated ideas. this is a completely lost battle but a lóng is really not a dragon, it is its own thing with only surface level similarities
i especially dislike many works that try to fold all sorts of different mythologies into a single consistent schema because they tend to heavily privilege western conceptions in doing so- see 'dragonology' books twisting basically every mythical reptilian under the sun into the mould of 'a species of dragon', implicitly centring the beowulf-style firebreather as the default from which all other mythologies derive, or basically anything that does worldwide vampire bloodlines
relatedly a qílín is not a unicorn, a fènghuáng is not a phoenix, and a jiāngshī is not a vampire, and it can impede understanding when they're approached from the standpoint of being the 'chinese version' of these concepts from western myth
as soon as i clicked post i realized damn that's such an evocatively erotic description, i should be using this sort of language about noble kinksters, not wasting it on class traitors

Happy 10 Year Anniversary to Kill Him With Kindness!
July 28th, 2016, I posted Chapter 1 of this fanfic, where I made the joke that it was hopefully going to be a couple chapters longer than A Done Deal... which was like 15 chapters.
Well, I just posted Chapter 53 of KHWK and there still is about... a third of this fic to go?
I wanted to do something special for ten whole years, even though I know I took a big, long burnout break in the middle. It still feels like something, and a huge accomplishment to me that I came back to it and have already come this far. Since coming back, I've posted over twenty chapters!
First thing's first- I have been busting my tail for the past two months re-reading and UPDATING every. single. word. of this fic. All of it is now in consistant present tense, with a lot less typos, POV consistancy, and a bit of fleshing out for those earlier chapters. You don't have to re-read, but if anyone ever does, it should be a much more pleasant experience for you!
Secondly, I commissioned one of my readers — Rory, or R3ddgh0ul to do two special artworks for me for the anniversary! They will be the book covers for my own self-published copies, but I'll also be posting the singular images in their own post- maybe tomorrow!
Ever since finishing Purest Soul, I decided that I wanted to get my hands on my accomplishments. Physically. It sounds impressive to write over a hundred thousand words, but it's something else to see it. To feel it. To flip through it.
As an extra incentive to myself to see the entire series through, I'll be self publishing every single one of them. Mainly just for me, but depending on if its feasible, I might offer to order a few extra for idk, super dedicated Sin Fan/ Sans Smoochers who want one.
Lastly, I just want to give a genuine THANK YOU to everyone this year who has come out of the woodwork with fanart and comments and interactions- you make writing SansxReader fanfiction in 2026 feel just as fresh and exciting as it did in 2016. Thank you for staying with me— I would not be anywhere near the writer I am now without all of you.
