seeing evan was always a highlight of his day. and he'd always tried to keep his whining to a minimum when he had to leave for an extended period of time due to work, but... that meant that he was all the more excited to welcome him back home.
running up to him the moment he saw the taller man, he jumped right up at him, arms wound tightly around his frame and fully expecting to be held in turn. “ i missed ya! ” he was quick to kiss evan on the cheek, on the lips, before burying his face in his shoulder and inhaling his scent.
“ did'ya smoke on the way back? ugh, go change! ” ... or otherwise dispose of the shirt.
It’s a strange thought… Having someone waiting for him to return that wasn’t among his initial small group of friends.
He’s sure Eugene would deny he ever did this but the man’s eyes lit up every time he returned from a trip elsewhere. His excitement was always palpable regardless of how Evan arrived or what Eugene’s own greeting was. It’s always a small scurry ( or something akin to it ) to close the distance between them in some way and though he couldn’t always predict what the shorter man would say, to him… it was usually something framed around missing him or noting his absence.
Now, typically — especially with those he’s been with before — this little detail gets pushed back as far as it can in the raven’s mind. If he notices it, it’s immediately glossed over in favor of focusing on physical details… on touches and hugs — things he can turn his mind off to after travelling for so long. The topic of being missed, or of awaiting one’s return, is always responded to with a “Well, I’m here now aren’t I?” and a somewhat dismissive, removed tone. It’s still playful, of course, but… it was just that — playful, with no real meaning.
With Eugene, he tried that and it did work for a time at holding the other man at arm’s length. For a brief moment, he held the thought of distance between the two of them firmly in his hand…
...but how could he continue holding onto it when the first thing Eugene does is jump into his arms. Quite literally, this time.
Evan’s arms wrap around Eugene with a small exhaled laugh, holding the other man tight as he wraps both arms and legs around his form. The raven is quick to adjust his hold on his shorter companion, one arm still holding Eugene to him by his waist while the other supports him with a hand cupping his thigh. “...I missed you too, Genie.” he mumbles after the kisses, softer than Eugene’s own admission. “Got you something too — to make up for how long I was gone.”
Evan tips his head to the side the moment his companion tips his head to the side, offering him more room to bury his face into his shoulder. He’s about to start walking with the feline in tow… when Eugene proceeds to recoil a bit with a displeased noise, the act followed by a comment about the scent of smoke on him.
“...Where do you think I’m going, huh?” he asks, a louder laugh on his tongue as he then begins walking. “You know — you kinda stopped me from doing that by jumping on me like you did.”
— And then comes a low, teasing purr, with the hand at Eugene’s thigh offering a small squeeze to it. “I take it that you wanna help me out a little, then~?”
