Summary/Snippet: It only took a few more minutes until Lando heard the bathroom door open.

And, yeah, it was Oscar, but…

The yelp he let out sounded genuinely terrified when he laid eyes on Lando. Oscar, looking definitely a few years younger and undeniably in shock, backed against the wall straight away while he stared over at Lando like a deer caught in headlights.

The room was painfully silent for a long few moments while Lando tried desperately to wrap his head around what in the ever-loving-fuck was going on. Because, that wasn't his Oscar. His shoulders weren't nearly as broad, his neck not as thick, his hair shorter and styled differently.

"You-" The words seemed to catch in his throat. "Oh my god."

The pitchy, strained tone of Oscar's voice was frankly adorable past the confusion clearly still plaguing both of them.

"Lando Norris?"

Lando wins the 2025 WDC, and stumbles upon 2021 Oscar in his hotel room.

i have to say i am devastated with the way the zc debacle has come to end. there is a very serious conversation to be had about fandom etiquette in media spaces, especially in the media platforms where the people involved might come to learn about the fanfictions written about them.

this time the breach didn't come from a stupid jorunalist who published about fanfiction, or a media admin bringing up the topic with the drivers themselves, it came from you, the readers, pushing it up on every fucking platform i stepped in for the last 4 days. you were in the comments of the video oscar uploaded of him playing in the sim, in the mclaren comments section. their official tiktok, and i have seen so many people talking about it on twitter too. like. i get you love it, but what happened with zc is really scary. i know the f1 drivers have a very, very low chance of seeing this type of content, especially when the fics are locked. but you should have known that the other side of the equation (in zc's case) are people whose job is to be chronically online and they see everything that gets posted to their name.

you should not be talking about fanfic in places where the people involved might see them. and that's it. no exceptions.

i have seen people talking about my own fics out in the wild, and while it doesn't bother me personally, i know i am an outlier, and that probably comes from the fact not many people know and read my fics, because who knows if suddenly all the comments talking about zc these past days were about one of my fics, i too maybe would have freaked out and deleted everything and myself from the internet.

i get that people want to talk about the things that they love, even when they're fics; finding people out in the wild who like the same thing as you is such a joy, i know. but you should learn that there are places to do so. like here tumblr where you know drivers have the least chance to find it, and you could even stumble upon the actual author and become friends with them; or in private discord servers where you share things with your friends.

but these breaches in containment are what have pushed so many authors to abandon writing lately. the zc author isn't the only one who gave up on this hobby, and it's so fucking sad to see.

i hope this serves as a lesson to everyone.

I've just opened my laptop to the heartbreaking news that the wonderful, beautiful and incomparable @evilgustofwind and all of her art has gone offline.

I really really hope you're doing alright, Rose - your impact on the Formula One fandom and many many people and authors around Tumblr is so profoundly positive. Your art inspired so many people, and while it's a genuine tragedy your fanfiction has gone offline, I'm glad you're putting yourself first and taking time away from all the negativity you must be subjected to currently.

You singlehandedly got me - and I'm sure many other people - into writing their own fanfiction, and for that I honestly cannot thank you enough. The Hohenwerfen Spider continues in your name!

Be kind to yourself, and thank you so much for all your service.

this is. Truly one of the worst days of my life. One of the most beautiful pieces of literature has been taken off the internet because people cannot contain fandom and rpf the way it needs to be. I hope everyone who participated in bringing zc to the knowledge of streamers and real people involved in it feels satisfied with what they've done. A source of comfort for so many people, which could've been truly cherished and loved the way it always deserved to be, is now gone, leaving us with no knowledge of when it may be back, and most importantly, leaving irreparable damage on the author's conscience. Hope everyone is truly happy with themselves. I will be sobbing forever.

@evilgustofwind no apologies can suffice. Please know you have our full support. You, the real person behind the worlds you created, are far more important than any fanfiction, no matter how impactful or influential. Please don't feel guilty, please don't feel any remorse, or any sort of negative feelings towards this, you are really a special person with so so so so so much talent, you are a treasure.

I hope sometime in the future you can feel safe enough to return. Until then, all my love 💗

It's time for this quote to come back out after today's super depressing news in the fanfic world that has shaken my fandom to it's core. It has all happened before, it will all happen again Sadly fans don't learn and have never learnt, from the great anti wars of X-Files to the need to create AO3 in the first place, sadly our greatest in each fandom have their stuff spread into non-fan areas and thus get death threats and decide the nuclear option is the only way (Which I fully support, despite the fact I'll never read their work again) To my brilliant fellow writers, stay strong, you have us older fandom peeps on your side and may Karma find those who threaten our passions that we give over for free. And last but not least fandom etiquette: DON'T LIKE IT? DON'T READ IT DO NOT SHARE FANFICS IN NON-FANFIC SPACES!!!!
