Hi everyone! I'm a queer astrologer who uses astrology as a framework for building a relationship with the world around us. You can find links to my work below.

A poem for each sign for the new moon in aquarius, organized by element. Text under the read more.
On an average, overcast day, I was running. Sprinting forwards, the only goal to exist on an adventure. On an average, overcast day, I was running. Sprinting forwards, until I fell. As I fell, I contemplated how hard I was going to hit the ground. My goal was now to brace for impact. The clarity of impact never came, however, and my body fell through the ground, carrying the weight of the world. I continued to fall. As I fell, I listed the ways I could have been more careful. I spent hours falling, ruminating on how it could’ve been prevented. On an average, overcast day, I was ruminating. I hated falling. Endlessly. Continuously. Perpetually. Spiraling downwards, trying to gain control of the wind as I drop. Eventually, as I was falling, it started to feel like flying. I hated flying. Even now I’m scared to fall again. I cannot, however, deny the nature of my wings. I am built for flying and I love the way I am built.
Happy Full Moon! Here’s a breakdown and some horoscopes. The power to give lies in the power to receive. The womb is nurtured from the outside in.

Do you know about any Sumerian names for the planets? I know Venus is associated with Inanna, but I can't find names of other planets/ an associated deity until the Babylonians. I know they didn't do astrology but I'd guess they knew about the other planets still.
Hello! Took me a little searching, but here’s what I’ve found - most of these are from Halloran (2006).
Mercury is guud 𒄞𒌓 “bull (of the) sun” or uduidim 𒇻𒅂 "sheep (of) heaven”
Venus is ninsianna 𒀯𒀭𒎏𒋜𒀭𒈾 “lady of the evening sky”
Mars is mulsa 𒀯𒋛𒀀 “red star”
Jupiter is shulpaea 𒀯𒂄𒉺𒌓𒁺𒀀 “resplendent young man”
Saturn is possibly genna 𒌉𒁹 “child”, which may be a borrowing from Akkadian
The other planets (Uranus, Neptune) weren’t known to the ancient Mesopotamians. As for the statement “they didn’t do astrology”, we don’t have a clear record of astrology from the Sumerian period (only from the Akkadian/Babylonian era in the second millennium BCE) but it’s quite likely the Sumerians did use the movements of the stars as omens, just not with the same framework modern astrologers may use.
