kaeya, who turns so child-like in diluc’s presence.

he’s playing it cool- but can’t deny the little pangs of hope and joy when diluc tolerates his presence for awhile longer than usual.

kaeya, who after all these years, wants to put his hand over diluc’s shoulder, just like the old days.

he lingers close but not close enough, wary to make sure his fingers don’t brush his brother’s side by instinct.

he holds back not out of spite, but because he’s scared he’ll ruin the seemingly good thing that’s going.

these days, sometimes, the two of them can walk side by side and chat as though nothing had ever come between them. kaeya was scared to strike a cord and crumble it all, and what if that cord was triggered by diluc’s shoulder?

meanwhile diluc, who noticed his brother on edge, and was honestly wondering why he wouldn’t go through with it. he was prideful, yet he stood extra still when kaeya’s hand came close, careful not to flinch.

but alas, the hand never met his shoulder, and the brothers would go on to know every thought of the other, except for how much they wanted each other.
