https://www.instagram.com/anywhereblvd Today I am launching a project I have been wanting to bring to life. I believe in sharing the stories of others as a way to look past our differences to what we have in common. I will feature the work of photographers while asking them to share the stories of their subjects and experience of their interaction. It is my goal to create a space where we celebrate the stories of us. My parents have always said, "you can find powerful stories from anyone, anywhere." So here’s to the beginning of Anywhere Blvd. I hope you will follow along.
The other day my ax broke, I went out to shoot earlier and returned to the sweetest box to keep my fire going. A really lovely way to end my week.
I met Clay through Instagram when he sent me a message asking me to let him know when I'm in California. He told me what town he was in and oddly enough he was 10 minutes away. That night we met at a local park and he began telling me his stories. I could only see his face when he lit his cigarette. He is 25, served in the army for 5 years, has owned a home, been married, divorced, and had to bury his child. He left everything behind and took off on his motorcycle to try and reach the sign of the last road in the Artic Circle. "I didn't know why I wanted to see this sign, but I felt like maybe there would be some sort of answer when I arrived." His motorcycle broke down before he could reach it. Since the army all Clay's jobs have been through Craigslist. He was working at a gas station breaking cement, waking up at 4am to get hours in before it got too hot. He could work his own hours, so he was determined to keep breaking cement until he had enough for a motorcycle. He couldn't decide if he wanted to use his GI bill to go back to school or if he wanted to keep traveling. When I left for Colorado I told him to keep in touch and let me know what he ends up doing. His living situation fell through and he wasn't able to get his motorcycle. He is currently traveling the country working for a subcontractor who sets up Apple Stores.

When I traveled across the states the first farm I worked on was Mystic Hot Springs. There I met Aubrey and Mike. After Aubrey's marriage ended she took off with friends for a girl's trip. She had no intentions of meeting anyone new and then they arrived at Mystic Hot Springs. At that point Mike had been working on his dream of Mystic Hot Springs for 14 years. After the weekend was over she realized she wanted to know more about him. As her friends continued on, she decided to stay. 7 years later she celebrates Mike's 21st anniversary of working on their dream together. "When I met him, I just knew." Website // Instagram
“You don’t find Paonia, Paonia finds you.” - Case and Shelly on Main Street
Case and Shelly live in a RV on another’s property in Paonia. Case has two kids. a 10 and 13 year old, both of which live on the East Coast. “They told me my son has a learning disability but they don’t understand that he just approaches learning in a different way.”

The further I get from the city the more in tune I become with what is important to me. It's been one week of calling this place home and I'm learning more about what it means to experience a very strong sense of community. I'm looking forward to sharing new work soon. For now, here's my home base, the Gingerbread House.
For now you can see some new portraits from my time in Iceland. http://www.rhombie.com/

@jokullsnaer gave me a lift to work this morning, he found his dashboard decoration in the local junkyard The concept of a name has always been interesting to me, a lot of people I've met in Iceland have unique meanings to their name. Jökull means glacier in Icelandic, I don't think it gets any more beautiful then that. (at Seyðisfjörður)
I met and made a portrait of Hans, who was visiting Iceland to collect mushrooms. He was staying at the guesthouse so Svetlana cooked the fish he caught and we joined him for lunch. He currently spends his time studying the characteristics and different traits of fungi, specially focusing on a variety of Waxcaps. (at Seyðisfjörður)

Living with artists from Canada, Denmark, and South Africa. Thankful to live with these women and have conversations that push my project forward. I've spent my day working in the studio, scheduling shoots around town, and documenting the stories I've collected so far. (at Seyðisfjörður)
Love letter never sent.
Jonathan on his bicycle I wish there was a recording of my face when I saw him turn the corner. I could tell he knew I was about to say something and I kind of just quickly blurted out "can I photograph you," before he could even ride by. #100DaysOfSonder (at Ojai, California)
