Happy Lunar New Year!
I was listening to the podcast Lingthusiasm and was suddenly struck by inspiration that I HAD to get out IMMEDIATELY. So without further ado, may I present.......

Really enjoyed playing around with the Hades art style! I think it suits Q'talo!
Taliesin wishes you all a Happy Halloween!
(I also tried to take a photo of him with the one ring.... It didn't go well.)
the world has been horrifying recently but i have personally witnessed something that brought me joy
Every year, California’s largest sheep and fiber festival, Lambtown, takes place in Dixon, CA. On the second day of Lambtown, teams of eight compete in a “sheep to shawl” competition, where the teams must start the day with un-spun wool and end the day with a 72” woven shawl. Teams may “warp” a loom ahead of time (where you thread the loom with its foundation of parallel threads), but on the day of competition they must spin their wool into yarn and weave it into a complete shawl.
This year competition was stiff, and very very close, and the winning team finished their shawl with two and a half minutes to spare.
I frequently hear about “needing to keep “politics” out of fiber arts, but art is inherently political.
These were beautiful, masterfully spun, woven, and finished shawls and that in itself is worthy of note.
But watching this team of eight would fight for hours, and pour their love for their community into their art was deeply moving and I am still reveling in the opportunity to have seen this win.
There are few things to rejoice in today, but they do exist. The horrors may persist, but so do we.
A large man reclines in repose, tending to a glass of red wine and gazing off dreamily. Grapevines adorn his hair like laurels and delicately twine around his body. From his temples are bunches of grapes, not unlike the jewels that sparkled on his body like stars or the spillage of wine. He takes in a deep sigh before turning to the party, a mist of alcohol clouding his gaze. "Would you like a drink?"
Found this old photo of young Taliesin having a romantic moment with Dionysus. He looks like he's posing for one of those cheesy romance book covers.
Can't believe a Haurchefant thirst trap is what got me out of a months long art slump. What a hero.
this can't be comfortable...
What possesses a man to do this ?
omg he's like knocked out asleep too, he truly thinks that's comfortable!!! what is going on with these lizards lol
Y'all ready for my boy?
Perfect fit.
this gives the energy of "tried to climb my rock yay but ooo I jus so sleepy zzz"
Love 2 sleep Normal Style
okay honestly I DO kinda get the vision with this one, cradling the neck on the rock like that MIGHT be comfortable after all
My dude, you have the entire hammock, why are you sleeping on a string?
As someone from the rural south, I actually don’t mind evil Republican Californian transplants. It’s kind of funny to witness them crash out after realizing there are no sidewalks and the nearest hospital is an hour and a half away. Maybe if enough of them vacate the state, the cost of living will go down and I can move there.
I used to live in an area that was somewhat scenic and had an undercurrent of tourism but was still extremely rural and poor. It was so funny to see transplants in the regional Facebook group making posts like “Does anyone know any good jogging paths in the area?” only to be met with a unanimous “No.”
There was someone who was like “I’m thinking of retiring to [AREA]. How quickly could the ambulance reach [AREA] in an emergency?” and everyone was like “It would take an hour or more. Do not retire here if you plan on ever getting sick.”
The funniest part was that the locals were not being dicks, there was a huge culture shock from these people who had lived in wealthy urban/suburban areas and were now trying to survive in the middle of nowhere. If you wanted resources and things to do and a decent quality of life, you should have stayed where you were. We’re living the libertarian unpaved road no emergency services dream over here.
“Does anybody know of any good restaurants in the area?” “There are two. Two restaurants in a 50 mile radius. One is pretty good but it is only open on Wednesdays and Fridays. The other is fucking disgusting but it is cheap and always open. Hope this helps.”
"Any good community centers I can get involved in?"
"The cops tore out the community center a few years ago in their "gang activity reduction campaign" so your options are as follows: You can meet other concerned citizens at city hall 30 minutes before the monthly City Council meeting (they don't open the doors until 5) on the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30 or you can go to the flea market on saturday before 11AM or you can volunteer to re-shelve books with other disgruntled citizens at the library - that's about it"
Church! You can go to church!
I worked at one of two (TWO) specialty medical offices in the entire state that accepted insurance for autism testing.
Two.
Our wait-list was Two. Years. Long.
Parents who had moved from more liberal places would call in absolutely furious. "This is ridiculous!! Back in (northern state) we had our child in 4 different specialty programs and you're telling me I have to wait two years for an appointment?! What other resources are there?! Surely there must be programs!"
...... Sorry, honey. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. "Lower cost of living" is not always necessarily a good thing because that lower cost usually comes from cutting important support programs and public works.
Caught you looking.
