My favourite book so far this year. Absolutely loved it!
Just finished and, apart from one ridiculous decision by the main character that had me face palming, really enjoyed. This actually had me wanting more so the next two books have been ordered. Refreshing to read something that had me caring about the characters as well as curious over the world building and magic systems.

An update on my mischief after a difficult start to the year.
We were able to pick up three baby girls in January so our Bramble would not be alone. She has taken them in as her little family. They are curious, friendly and resemble a hyperactive tornado on caffeine! It is a joy getting to know them and so good to see Bramble happy.
A beautiful Saturday afternoon and some nice results from a heavier bow borrowed from another club member for a couple of hours.
Back indoors…
My first outdoor session of the year.
I am heartbroken to say we bid farewell to Damson early January.
Our wonderful bundle of hyperactivity bravely underwent a successful tumour removal surgery in the summer and made a great recovery. However, early January it was back, this time as a brain tumour.
Our vet was very compassionate and helped her pass peacefully.
We miss you and your shenanigans very deeply, Damson.
Restful January evening
RIP Casper, 26/12/2025
Casper was already an older rat when he found his forever home with us. He was a wonderful balance to the lively girls in the mischief, happily scuffling with the permanently hyper Damson then snuggling with our cuddle baby Bramble. He was an inspiration on determination as the progress of his HLD slowed him down, yet he happily found new ways to move.
His last day was spend having cuddles and enjoying his favourite foods before he fell asleep and passed peacefully with his cage mates for company.
We all miss you sweet Casper, thank you for sharing your elder days with us.
My sweet Casper is well over 2 and a half years old now and finding a lot of things harder. Adjustments to his diet and environment help him stay happy. He is getting very snuggly and wants to spend more time being held. I feel very privileged to be able to care for my old boy at this time.
I actually enjoy weaving in the ends…
Edited to show Bramble “helping”

There should totally be a movement called “Sleep in Public” where people defend their right to sleep on public property. Sleep in your cars. Sleep on benches. Sleep at the park. Just make it a mundane and regular part of life to see someone napping in the library. It would make it much harder to single out the homeless for harassment if everyone else is doing the same thing and much harder to argue that it’s a “threat to public safety” when it’s so clearly harmless.
“But homeless people commit crimes!” I have a very hard time believing they commit crimes while asleep.
You know who do commit crimes in their sleep? Billionaires
