Heavy Sea

Water runs underneath And stretches out Reaching toward a sunset It will never touch Able to hold the ship And sink it too As the guilt of the sea Presses down on you

Feminine Hair

Green eyed but dark haired And I had always been scared Of any judgement brought about- Silent or not- by the amount Of hair that resides upon my arms, My tummy, my face, my legs; A trait, used like a weapon to harm Stipulating none like me could ever be Even somewhat considered feminine.

But over the years, I have come to accept That the thick dark hair that hugs the side Of my face, the dark brown down that clings To my arms, and the way it sometimes grows Upon my upper lip, are neither a flaw in make up Nor a genetic mistake- rather, something beautiful, Unique and individual; something to be  Admired, not cut, plucked, or waxed away, And along with it, our natural femininity.

You Taste Like Bleach

You taste like bleach I hear the words drip from your mouth Like the acid you can taste behind my Teeth and in my hair and on my lips

You feel like bleach Your gaze scratches across me My appearance catching and burning In your eyes and they water

You are bleach The way you say it crawls my flesh It stings the way it does when it catches In your throat destroying you inside to out

I taste like bleach The realisation is heavier than the bottle You bring to your lips and sip With each kiss I break you more

I Love You In

I love you in the shapes of clouds In the undulations of air pressure Sliding coolly down the groove Of my spine like your hands reassuring

I love you in the click of teeth In the chalky grind of enamel  Slippery as your tongue massages Sparks into cold white marble

I love you in the beats of my heart In the wet thud it says your name Enduring even through the worst  For I know yours is doing the same

All My Tens

You kiss my neck, And tickle my arms, Tell me that you love The way I say my ‘R’s- Just a little bit posh.

You laugh at the way I get mad at small things Like the number nine, And when you let Cold air under the blanket.

You whisper that you love It when I tell the time By counting the hours In lots of tens, Even when I get it wrong. So I really mean it- And though you said it first- For all the time there is, I want to spend all my tens With you.
