SCRIPTIC POETRY
Scriptic Poetry is a project offering a new format or template for anyone to create poetry. Just like haiku's or sonnets it consists of a fixed set of rules that are to be followed. The template is based on the scripting languages HTML, CSS and JAVASCRIPT, but adapted to be optimal for use of poetry. The if-, then-, else-clause are the key features of this structure.
This new form of poetry is unique as it makes it possible to use new concepts, such as loops to give the poems more flexibility. It gives the opportunity to read a poem differently every time you start over; a poem does not necessarily have to be fixed and static anymore.
With this new template comes a new form of visualisation. Together with the template, a set of rules for language was created. Every word has to be written as short as possible and several characters are replaced by signs. It can be seen as a new kind of grammar-system exclusive for this poetry-form. When the new form of writing is mixed with the original language, this creates a new kind of font. Then a poem is not only linguistic, but visually interesting as well. To still be able to decipher the font, the poem is read out loud as well.
Visualisation, language and sound are all put together. It makes Scriptic Poetry a form of poetry created for multiple senses to give a more complete experience. Scriptic Poetry is created to be an experience.
